Riptopia For Sale, Not Out of Business, COO Says
Content collection and backup firm addresses out of business rumors by saying it is for sale.
It's hard for an established company in a mature market to survive, let alone a new company in a slumping economy.
Riptopia, which offers media collection and backup services, finds itself the latter.
Earlier this year, the company announced to its competitors that it was interested in selling its business assets, but according to COO Alex Baker, some within the category misrepresented its intentions by claiming Riptopia had closed its doors.
Baker says the rumors are untrue and, that at this point, any unscrupulous business tactics that intentionally smear the solvency of Riptopia also hurt the entire media ripping and backup category, which is still in its infancy stages.
"News has recently surfaced that Riptopia is out of business," says Baker, alluding to the rumors.
"Far to the contrary, Riptopia's CD and DVD processing services are still available to our AV Partner group. Malicious rumors do nobody any favors in this maturing service category."
Baker adds that the company is still interested in talking to bidders for its business and it is also welcoming new customers to participate in its portfolio of services.
