Panasonic to Cut 40,000 Jobs by End of 2012
Cuts account to 11% of its entire workforce and will be primarily overseas as Sanyo and Panasonic Electric are consolidated.
Panasonic will reduce its workforce by approximately 40,000 employees (11 percent) worldwide by the end of 2012.
According to Marketwatch, the consolidation will primarily affect operations at its Panasonic Electric Works Co. and Sanyo Electric Co. Both of those entities became wholly owned units on April 1, the report says.
Cutbacks will be focused among employees in overseas manufacturing, along with personnel in the major appliance and administrative areas.
Panasonic's current employment is 380,000.

have you seen the recent as well as new Plasma sets?
They are nothing less than spectacular with the VT series likely the best flat panel image available to the consumer.
