Nordost Power Cable Employs 14AWG Construction
The new Nordost Red Dawn power cable is now available at a MSRP of $349 for a one-meter length, and the Massachusetts-based company says additional half meter increments are $75.
The company’s latest heir to the A/V performance throne is the new Red Dawn power cable, and Nordost says its newest Lief Series product delivers a higher level of quality than standard, manufacturer-supplied power cables. The UL-approved Red Dawn power cable features a 14 AWG construction and the company’s proprietary Micro Mono-Filament FEP technology.
“We’ve applied Micro Mono-Filament FEP technology to a heavier gauge stranded power cable in our Red Dawn’s construction to offer a flexible cable which can deliver more power efficiently and quickly, explains Joe Reynolds, president of Nordost. “[It’s a] similar technology to that used in our flagship Valhalla and Odin power cords. We’ve raised the bar again, and this time with a high-quality, flexible UL-approved power cord that delivers better performance for a lower price. [Our] Micro Mono Filament FEP technology increases current flow; it improves transmission speed and dissipates heat more efficiently.”
According to the company, its manufacturing process improves alternating current power cable performance through the implementation of its Extruded FEP techniques that draw twisted FEP Mono-Filament thread around the conductor in a helix pattern. It also notes that because of this technique, insulation contact with the conductors is reduced by more than 80 percent, and its Extruded FEP insulation offers very little signal loss, and a fast dissipation of heat. Nordost also manufactures the power cord with quality raw materials that include multi-strand 99.9 percent oxygen-free copper and gold-plated connectors, and it adds that the power cord is available in a choice of lengths.

I’m always amazed how companies can push this stuff. A 3’ power cable is going to make such a huge difference when your whole entire house (more than likely) is in 14 ga solid romex, or worse yet an older house still using tar paper wrapped aluminum wire….
Why are we promoting garbage like this product? Let’s be honest with ourselves here.. $349 for one meter of power cord that could not possibly deliver power any differently than the AC outlet?
It is obvious that JohnA and davenport have NEVER personally auditioned Nordost power cables. There may very well be some fraudulent claims made by some cable brands. Nordost is the real deal. You owe it to yourselves to put your A/V ego aside and hear what these can do. You are missing out on a great experience, one that will remove much of the cloud that hangs between you and the music you love.

These are easy add-ons that actually improve the quality of the client’s system. HUGE bang for the buck! And with Red Dawn, now you have a best/better for Blue Heaven. Oh, and they’re made in the US!
