Niles Replaces Popular Multiroom Amp With New Model
During the 2012 CEDIA Expo Niles introduced five new amplifiers to provide its dealers with new amplification options for two-channel and multichannel whole-house sound installations.
Headlining the new amp products is the 12-channel SI-1230 Series 2 amplifier which replaces the company’s original SI-1230 that was inducted into the CEDIA Hall of Fame back in 2011. Joining the SI-1230 Series 2 amp in Niles’ new line of amplifier products are the two-channel SI-250, the SI-2100 and the SI-2150 amps, and the 16-channel SI-1650. Niles says the amps utilize 1 percent metal-film resistors, high-quality capacitors and oversize heatsinks to ensure reliability without having to use noisy cooling fans.
“Niles has a long tradition of designing and marketing audio components of the highest quality, and that level of precision and care has resulted in this new line of five high-power, reliable and installation-friendly amplifiers,” states Paul Starkey, chief marketing officer, Niles. “With a full line of Systems Integration Amplifiers CI [custom installation] professionals now have a Niles amplifier for every installation, whether it’s a home theater, a whole-home multi-zone system or a restaurant or office audio system.”
The SI-250 delivers 50-watts per channel into 8-ohm loads and 100-watts per channel into 4-ohm loads. The SI-2100 is rated to deliver 100 watts into an 8-ohm load and 220 watts into 4-ohm loads. The SI-2150 delivers 150 watts into 8 ohms and 270 watts into 4-ohm loads, and Niles adds the amps can be set up in a bridge mode to operate the amps as monoblocks that deliver 225 watts, 400 watts or 550 watts each respectively. The SI-1230 Series 2 delivers 30-watts per channel and 80 watts in a bridged mode, and the SI-1650 delivers 50-watts per channel, and it incorporates a high-power mode that enables the amp to deliver 8x100 watts of power.
All of the amps incorporate independent level controls, gold-plated stereo inputs, cascade stereo outputs and five-way binding posts.
