Jon Myer, CEO, will step in as president.
07.02.2009 — After 21 years with
MyerEmco Audio/Video, president and COO Gary Yacoubian is departing the company effective July 10.
Yacoubian will stay in the electronics industry, according to MyerEmco spokesperson Keith Wimmer. Efforts to reach Yacoubian were unsuccessful.
CEO Jon Myer will also now assume the role of president.
Gaithersburg, Md.-based MyerEmco is a nine-store specialty audio/video chain and custom installation company. It ranks No. 8 on the
2009 CE Pro 100 with $14,000,000 in 2008 custom revenues.
Yacoubian is also the
chair of CEA's executive board, a position he was appointed to in October 2008. Wimmer expects Yacoubian will retain that position.
Yacoubian has often been the face of MyerEmco. After MyerEmco walked away from an agreed-upon
acquisition by Harvey Electronics in 2007, it was Yacoubian who
explained why it wasn't a good fit.
Consistently frank, he also explained what he learned and how he would have handled the acquisition process differently.
Yacoubian most recently talked about MyerEmco’s
TV advertising campaign and its attempt to raise consumer awareness of specialty and custom electronics.
Yacoubian calls his time at MyerEmco “the greatest professional experience of my life thus far.” Myer says he will miss Yacoubian but he is “excited and energized to move forward as president and CEO, a role that allows me to fully engage with the company in both a strategic and tactical sense.”

Man, I can’t believe this is happening. This hit me harder than when MJ died. Gosh, what to put a damper on the weekend.
