ELAN Continues to Raise the Bar in Customized Control With CEDIA Introduction of OléXL
OléXL Offers Another Olé Model Option with Larger OLED Display and Additional Personalized Control of Multi-Room A/V Systems

09.07.2007 — DENVER, CO—CEDIA Booth #610—ELAN Home Systems, a leading manufacturer of award-winning Multi-Room audio/video and home control systems, announced today the trade debut of OléXL, the newest addition to its revolutionary, award-winning Olé family of Film Interactive Touchpads, at CEDIA 2007 in Denver, Colorado. The announcement was made by Bob Farinelli, ELAN’s President and Chief Technology Officer.

In 2006, ELAN turned the custom A/V industry on its ear with the introduction of the ground-breaking Olé and its patent-pending combination of touch screen functionality, keypad-like simplicity, affordability, and unmatched customization. Now, with the addition of OléXL, there are two best-of-breed options from which homeowners can control all their entertainment throughout the house.

The world’s first Film Interactive Touchpad (FIT), Ole´ brings together the speed, graphics, and response of a traditional LCD touch panel, with the ease and pricing of a traditional keypad. A radical departure from hard button keypads, the Ole´ family of products offers the largest all-touch surface in a double-gang, in-wall product and new a level of flexibility to match every Client’s décor. It’s easier-than-ever installation and VIA!TOOLS programming saves Dealers valuable time, thus increasing profits substantially.

“The OléXL introduction further positions ELAN as the leader in all-touch user interface design and technology innovation, and perfectly complements our broad new lineup of control devices which are launching at CEDIA. OléXL delivers the same extraordinary functionality and value as the original Olé but with additional metadata and feedback display area and button options. As a result, Dealers now have access to two sophisticated yet affordable décor-matching user interfaces that will suit more installations and more users,” stated Mr. Farinelli.

OléXL’s 2.1” extra large OLED display provides a viewing area for multiple custom source select pages with colorful icons for each source, DVD/DVR menu navigation and a numeric keypad. The larger display also provides room for more detailed graphical and text “Now Playing” information from source components such as iPod and XM Radio.

In addition to offering expanded customization of control and feedback through its larger OLED display, OléXL’s stunning selection of thirty-six photographic quality, backlit slide-in films can be custom-matched to 7 different frame colors (White, Light Almond, Almond, Ivory, Brown, Black and a beautiful Satin Chrome finish), which are available in both Standard and European styling. These distinctive films match the existing Olé lineup and are offered in a wide variety of styles, themes and colors ranging from the mountains to the beach; from gemstones to football and more. Designed to match virtually every personal taste, OléXL films also feature a simple, user-friendly button layout.

Since its introduction last year, Olé has received great critical acclaim and has been honored with numerous top industry awards including a 2006 Electronic House Product of the Year Award, Residential Systems’ 2006 Excite Award, and 2006 EHX Multi-Room Audio/Video Award for Best User Interface.

With the addition of OléXL and the recent expansion of their award-winning line of VIA! Touch Panels, ELAN now has multi-tiered offering of all-touch users interfaces, at MSRPs ranging from $380.00 to $2000.00, that make it the most compelling and consistently reliable line of user interfaces in the business.

ELAN will be taking orders for Ole´XL at CEDIA and the product is expected to begin shipping in October, 2007 at a MSRP of $580.00. To see Ole´XL in action, stop by ELAN’s booth #610 at CEDIA 2007 in Denver, Colorado.
