Editor’s Picks: Top Products of CEDIA Expo 2011
Bob Archer rounds up the products that stood out most at CEDIA Expo 2011.
I didn’t quite know what to expect going into CEDIA Expo 2011. It was as if Bill Belichick's "Patriot Way" of silence overtook the industry.
But the show delivered a slew of products and trends that will help CE pros meet current market demands.
Audio trends included the dichotomy of vinyl and digital audio sources, as well as the adoption of compact bookshelf speakers, active electronics and colorful gloss finishes.
Despite its detractors, many manufacturers featured new 3D products. The good news is the price of 3D products in the mid-level area are falling, which could create more sales opportunities for dealers.
On the performance side, manufacturers introduced new solutions in the all-in-one and LED projector categories. Sony broke new ground by introducing a 4K projector for a fraction of what a 4K unit used to cost.
Lutron also shattered previous market pricing when it debuted a new battery-powered shade product that offers an automation upgrade path.
Of all the products I encountered at CEDIA Expo 2011, these ones stood out most.
