05.16.2008 — Crestron has released the TPMC-4XG, a handheld touchpanel that delivers 802.11g and 802.11b WiFi communications, video and Windows Sideshow support.

TPMC-4XG, the next generation of the TPMC-4X, has a 3.5-inch color touchscreen, 16-bit graphics with 3D effects, high-res images, dynamic graphics and text, PNG translucency and animation.

Integrated 802.11b/g WiFi technology delivers 2-way wireless, communicating with Crestron control systems, computers, and media servers via a wireless Ethernet access point.

Bidirectional communication provides control of all devices and systems, scrolling through playlists and songs, displaying cover art and support for Windows Sideshow.

Windows SideShow enables the TPMC-4XG to display PC and Web-based content through a network on a Windows Vista computer.

The re-designed touchpanel has silver package, ergonomic button layout and a field replaceable battery that enables longer use between charges.

A stylus is included for use with the on-screen keyboard.

It features 19 tactile buttons comprised of 10 smartly-placed buttons, a 5-way navigation thumbpad, and 4 assignable "hard keys" along the bottom of the touchscreen.

The buttons are completely customizable and a scroll wheel is located on the right side of the touchpanel for menu navigation.

The TPMC-4XG also includes native support for wireless streaming video from 3rd-party Web cams and servers.
