CEDIA Names Randy Stearns Chairman

Randy Stearns, owner of Engineered Environments and current association VP, steps into top role following sudden death of Randy Vaughan.
The Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association (CEDIA) has named Randy Stearns, owner ofEngineered Environments located in Alameda, Calif., as CEDIA chairman.
Stearns will replace the late Randy Vaughan, who passed away on December 23, 2010 after a short illness. Stearns has served on the CEDIA Board of Directors since 2005 and has been an active member of CEDIA since 1993.
“Randy’s contributions to the industry and CEDIA have been instrumental in affecting positive change and association growth over the years,” says Ken Erdmann, a former CEDIA chairman. “He has served on many committees, councils, and action teams and is a perfect fit for the leadership role of CEDIA Chairman."
Stearns' involvement with CEDIA encompasses a wide variety of positions, including Industry Outreach Council Chair, EXPO chair, treasurer, Best Practices Action Team, instructor, Subject Matter Expert and Finance Committee. He most recently served as vice chairman for the Board of Directors. Stearns company was profiled in the September 2010 issue of CE Pro.
His education includes a B.A. from Dartmouth and an MBA from the University of Southern California. His company is a perennial member of the CE Pro 100 and has won many awards in CEDIA's Electronic Lifestyles Awards competition, which showcases CEDIA members’ best work in categories ranging from home theater to whole-house integration.
"Stearns’ diverse CEDIA background and business expertise is a powerful asset to have as CEDIA Chairman," says CEDIA CEO Utz Baldwin. "We are proud to have him serve in this role and look forward to kicking the year off under his leadership."
