Cables To Go Shows TruLink High Speed HDMI Active Optic Cable

Cables To Go has released its TruLink High Speed HDMI Active Optical Cable (AOC) at CES 2012 that is designed to carry 1080p content up to 20 meters away.

The TruLink cable, which is designed for use in a variety of commercial venues, has a diameter that is "smaller and more flexible than copper" for easy installation in tight spaces, the company says.

The TruLink cable features an added USB connector to draw power from displays that have a USB port, giving users the option to power it from an AC to USB adapter.

Cables To Go says the cable will "soon be available in lengths up to 100 meters."

"In today's installations, high-speed performance and resolution over longer distances are key expectations, which the TruLink High Speed HDMI AOC delivers," says Garry Dukes, director of product development for Lastar, parent company of Cables To Go.

"The AOC is designed to address the unique needs of critical environments such as data centers and hospitals, while maximizing the latest advances in HDMI technology including 3D and 4K x 2K resolution with Deep Color. The cable is also the ideal extension solution for digital signage applications in retail, hospitality and commercial settings."

Cables To Go also unveiled its TruLink Media Gateway (TMG) with plug-and-play technology. It has connection ports for HDMI, VGA, composite video, 3.5mm audio, and a connection for Apple devices, MP3 players, USB and Ethernet. Input signals are converted, upscaled as needed, and delivered to the display over a single HDMI output cable.

The TruLink A/V Controller is a wall-mount keypad with eight interchangeable buttons that offer up to four programmable commands per button. The TruLink A/V Controller, which is designed for classrooms and conference rooms, also includes a USB port for programming from a laptop or thumb drive and a Multiport Connection Interface Adapter (MCIA) that provides secure connections and eliminates the need for field termination.

TruLink VGA over UTP extends VGA and audio signals up to 300 and 500 feet over Cat5, Cat5e or Cat6 cables. Cables To Go says its "is compatible with any operating system and requires no drivers or software." The transmitter and receiver are available in interchangeable wall plate or box form factors.

The TruLink VGA over UTP is now available in VGA, VGA+3.5 audio, VGA+3.5+RS232, single port and 4 port and coming soon in HDMI utilizing HDBaseT.
