08.25.2008 — ArcSoft's TotalMedia Theatre has received DTS Surround Sensation certification, becoming the first in the industry to do so.
DTS Surround Sensation offers 5.1 surround sound in a two-channel environment, supplementing the stereo image and ambience of digitally compressed audio.
ArcSoft announced support for DTS Surround Sensation in January.
"DTS Surround Sensation brings Surround Sound to the listeners using just two speakers or stereo headphones," says George Tang, ArcSoft VP and GM of video and home entertainment group.
The TotalMedia Theatre became DTS-HD Master Audio certified in May.
ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre supports playback of all three Blu-ray Disc video formats (MPEG-2, AVC, and VC1) and other HD content such as WMV HD, QuickTime HD, DivX HD, and H.264 HD.
TotalMedia Theatre is also BD-Live ready.
