The Bethlehem, Pa.-based connectivity and infrastructure manufacturer MDSlink, Inc., has announced its latest product: The MaGiC-SFP 2.5 network extension module.
MDSlink, Inc., says its new Multi-Gigabit Coax Small Form-Factor Pluggable (MaGiC) network extender is designed to serve professional integrators as a cost-effective, easy-to-install solution that extends a fiber-based network’s footprint in environments that include single-family residences, MDUs and office spaces.
According to the company, the MaGiC-SFP 2.5 network extension module provides up to 2.5Gbps symmetrical data rates when plugged into an Ethernet network SFP/SFP+ port.
The product can be implemented for a range of network applications that include the last 100 meter distribution using a building’s existing coax cabling, as well as wireless access point (AP) backhaul to supplement in-home Wi-Fi networks using wired connections between devices, and in commercial environments as a wireless AP backhaul when combined with using standalone power injectors.
MDSlink notes that channel stacking allows for the delivery of up to 4 Gbps on a single coax wire by using high- and low-frequency MaGiC-SFP 2.5 units
In addition, MDSlink, Inc., points out that its latest product provides the roadmap to the next-generation MoCA 3.0 standard to facilitate a smooth transition to 10 Gbps with backwards compatibility with the MoCA Access 2.5 and 2.0 standards.
