Immersive audio is the biggest thing to hit the home and pro markets in a long time, and the new Yamaha AVENTAGE CX-5200 preamplifier/processor provides integrators a modern solution for residential applications.

Yamaha says integrators can combine the 11.2-channel AVENTAGE CX-5200 processor with its companion 11-channel AVENTAGE MX-5200 amplifier to form the foundation of a state-of-the-art immersive audio system.

"AVENTAGE represents the ultimate in home theater and now with Surround:AI, our new artificial intelligence surround-sound processing built into these flagship A/V separates, Yamaha stands alone at the pinnacle of ultra-high performance components," says Robert Goedken, general manager, A/V division, Yamaha Corporation of America.

"The new CX-A5200 and MX-A5200 represent the highest expression of the AVENTAGE concept, which combines fine craftsmanship, innovative technologies and a multitude of no-compromise design, engineering and construction refinement to produce the purest sound with unrivaled sonic realism."

Yamaha Surround:AI Adds Realism to Dolby Atmos, DTS:X

The CX-A5200 preamplifier/processor offers homeowners Dolby Atmos and DTS:X immersive audio processing options as standard features.

Separating the product from other processing solutions on the market, the AVENTAGE CX-5200 also incorporates Yamaha's proprietary Surround:AI immersive audio processing.

Yamaha's advanced digital signal processing (DSP) technologies automatically optimize each scene's surround sound content in real-time.

Surround:AI analyzes each scene's characteristics, including elements such as dynamic range, the amount levels of dialog, the degree of sound effects, background music and channel balance. It compares those types of characteristics to a reference database of movie scenes to process the scene to optimize the audio.

This results in dialog becoming more intelligible in scenes where there is a lot of background noise and scenes with big musical scores are able to produce the best possible musical experience, according to the company.

Some of the configurations that integrators can set up with the AVENTAGE CX-A5200 processor include 7.2.4 systems that feature four height channels to enable individual sounds or objects to move within the 3D plane for added levels of realism.

The processor also incorporates the company's Yamaha Parametric Room Acoustic Optimizer (YPAO) equalization suite that employs 64-bit EQ calculations.

In addition, the AVENTAGE CX-A5200 processor also employs a pair of ESS SABRE Pro Premier DACs (ES9026 Pro) to help the unit produce high signal-to-noise ratios.

The pre/pro also offers a choice between XLR and RCA connections, three HDMI outputs, seven HDMI inputs that support 4K, Dolby Vision HDR video with BT.2020 wide color gamuts, and the ability to integrate into third-party control systems from companies that include Control4, Elan Home Systems and RTI.
