Dana Innovations, parent company of Sonance, iPort, and TRUFIG, will start selling Sonance products at Magnolia Design Center locations beginning in April 2012. Consumers can experience Sonance in a series of demo rooms and static displays inside the 17 Magnolia locations. Magnolia will provide design, project management and installation services. The Home Technology Specialists of America named its top vendors for 2011 during the buying group's 15th annual fall meeting. Morris Tait Associates, a manufacturer’s representative firm serving Southern California, Las Vegas and Arizona, announces the addition of two seasoned and respected industry sales representatives. John MacDonald and Scott Wallis have joined the rep firm to serve Southern California and Arizona respectively. The expansion enables the firm to have local representation in both Arizona and California at all times. Since first opening in 2008, the Smart Home exhibit in Chicago’s Museum of Science & Industry has hosted more than 250,000 guests. But it wasn’t’ all that foot traffic that precipitated a makeover, it was new technology. The exhibit, dubbed “Chicago’s Greenest Home,” is now outfitted with even more green technologies. Sonance’s new 70V Sonance Landscape Series system consists of two-way satellite speakers and in-ground subwoofer. It has been designed with a long life UV stable material to withstand extreme weather. The new two-way satellite speakers, the LS67SAT (MSRP $720) and LS47SAT (MSRP $380), feature 0.75-inch integrated tweeters and power handling up to 25 watts at 70V. These days, when you see big a mushroom-looking thing in the garden, and music is coming out of it, you might be thinking AmbiSonic. Think again. It's Sonance now. Sonance is now the sole distributor of the outdoor speakers and subwoofers formerly known as AmbiSonic. As part of the deal, the products will be re-badged Sonance, and AmbiSonic will cease to market the solutions under its own brand. iPort announced recently that it is now shipping the Control Mount Series (CMS) of in-wall docks for the iPod and iPad (CM100 and CM200, respectively). The products feature a mounting bracket and magnetic faceplate with a “home” button at the bottom and “power” button at the top. The home button is easy – it lies directly on top of the corresponding button on the iPad/iPod. The power button, however, is another story. San Clemente, Calif.-based Sonance has one of the largest custom installation product lines in the entire specialty A/V industry. Expanding its line of products, the company has just introduced its new 12-inch SUB12-500 and 10-inch SUB10-250 architectural subwoofers. The new subwoofers, which fit in a standard 2x4 stud bay, are part of the company's Cinema Series of products and they incorporate the company's micro-trim grille technology, 1-inch and 1/2-inch thick MDF (medium density fiberboard) enclosures, aluminum bracing and long-strand fiberglass internal dampening material.
