Dana Innovations, parent company of Sonance, iPort, and TRUFIG, will start selling Sonance products at Magnolia Design Center locations beginning in April 2012. Consumers can experience Sonance in a series of demo rooms and static displays inside the 17 Magnolia locations. Magnolia will provide design, project management and installation services. "Magnolia Design Centers offer us an opportunity to expose the Sonance brand and our design solutions to a whole new audience of high-end consumers who were previously unaware of the offerings of the custom installation industry,” says Ari Supran, CEO…

Olive Expands Dealers to Include Magnolia Locations

The O3HD, O4HD and O6H systems, once primarily available online, can now be found at some of Best Buy’s Magnolia Audio Video and Magnolia Design locations. Over the past few years it seems that high-end dedicated music servers have lost some of their shine. This has largely been due to the ease of music streaming services, and of course the iPod family. Olive, a company that makes a handful of hard-drive based single-room music servers (the O2HD is a multiroom system, but not available from Magnolia) has been targeting the…

Best Buy/Magnolia Staff Up for Commercial Integration
Julie Jacobson | 08/09 01:42 PM,

Best Buy and its Magnolia specialty stores are taking CE installation to a whole new level. Instead of just hanging TVs on a wall and fixing home networks, they’re now going after the commercial market. The Best Buy organization, including Magnolia and Geek Squad, are not new to the commercial space. Best Buy for Business today services small- and medium-sized businesses, but the new commercial group has grander aspirations. “We’re talking really big, like stadiums,” says Brian Krisko, the newly appointed director of commercial integration for Magnolia. Earlier this year,…

B&W Follows A/V Trend, Expands Retail through Magnolia
Julie Jacobson | 07/17 07:15 AM,

B&W, which historically has sold its loudspeakers through a limited number of specialty A/V retailers and custom integrators, will open "a significant portion of our broad product portfolio" to Best Buy's Magnolia this fall, says B&W chairman Joe Atkins in a letter to dealers (below). Atkins attributes the change to "more [A/V] store closings and business failures than we have seen in the last 20 years combined." He explains (rightly) that B&W is not alone in re-thinking its business during these changing economic times: "Vendors that have built their brands…

Q&A: Steve Delp of Magnolia
Tom LeBlanc | 03/22 07:23 AM,
6 Comments
As chief operating officer of Magnolia Home Theater and Magnolia Audio Video, Best Buy's specialty division, Steve Delp has a unique view of the specialty electronics market. He has been with Best Buy since 1997, three years before it acquired Magnolia, and took over for Magnolia chief Jim Tweten after his 2008 retirement. In March 2009, Magnolia uprooted its Kent, Wash. headquarters and moved to Best Buy hub Richfield, Minn. The buzz was that, under Best Buy management, Magnolia would become a watered-down specialty dealer. But that just hasn't happened.…

Best Buy Showcases Solar in Magnolia Showroom
Jason Knott | 03/08 10:52 AM,

Magnolia Audio Video is making sure customers know where to go for solar panel installations as part of its new design center located inside the Costa Mesa Best Buy store in Orange County, Calif. The store, which is one of only eight Magnolia A/V design centers, has alternative energy equipment prominently located in the showroom. There is a six-foot vignette containing a large solar panel, along with a video loop about solar technology and literature. “It’s the first time we’ve done it, but it’s a natural fit. When we are…
