In another sign of the lack of awareness of the custom installation community among the general public, a new study reports that A/V retailers/custom installation companies rank a distant third as the type of contractor they would expect to offer various home technologies. The study, commissioned by the Electronic Security Association, shows that home security companies--not custom integrators--are by far the No. 1 choice by consumers for integrated home technology installation. The survey specifically asked about the installation of remote HVAC control, automated lighting control, energy information systems, home control…

Many people purchase a home hoping to net a profit. It looks like the New York Mets' David Wright is no different. The third baseman recently put his 4,100 sq ft. penthouse on the market for $7.85 million. Wright purchased the full-floor living quarters in 2006 for $6.1 million. Upgrades to the 3-bedroom, 4.5-bathroom dwelling, including a hot tub and state-of-the-art sound system on the top floor, are some of the improvements that could yield a high offer. He's also outfitted the media room with five TVs so no game…

The unit is available in many colors and more than one can be used to control…

Lighting Control Offers Campus Environments Dramatic Savings
Jason Knott | 03/24 09:33 AM,

When an integrator is contracted for a campus housing installation, the focus is usually on infrastructure wiring/network communications. But don’t overlook the value of bringing lighting control solutions to the school. According to Leviton, the cost reductions for lighting control in schools is dramatic. Schools use a significant portion of their budgets on electricity. By simply installing occupancy sensors along with lighting control, integrators can save schools and their residence halls huge amounts on energy bills. (See chart.) The most dramatic results are not even in the dorms, but in…
