Draper Europe AB has acquired Tvaakersmarkisen. In addition to being one of Sweden’s largest awning manufacturers, Tvaakersmarkisen also makes window shades and venetian blinds. “Awnings are a popular window covering in Europe, due to the high cost of energy,” according to Goran Peterson, managing director, Draper Europe AB, “so this was a natural fit for Draper.” Peterson adds, however, there more than awnings in Draper Europe’s plans. During the second half of 2012 Draper Europe will also begin to manufacture interior and exterior window shades using Draper’s proprietary hardware system.…

Steven Castle | 08/29 07:46 AM,

Motorized shades are hot in Europe, but they are just catching on in the United States. Clint Childress of Draper says outdoor shades are better than indoor shades at shielding the home from heat, cold and sunlight because they stop light and heat before they enter a client's living space. Childress offers these suggestions for shading outdoor spaces: Investigate exterior patios, outdoor living rooms, and sunrooms. They are good candidates for outdoor shades. The weave of an outdoor shade can be larger (between 5-10 percent) than the weave of an…

Draper went back to the drawing board for its latest viewing surface, the M2500, which was displayed at CEDIA Expo. The M2500 is Draper’s newly reformulated projection screen viewing surface. This flexible matte white surface boasts something very special - a new lower gain of 1.5. That gain makes for a nice addition to any new 3D-capable home theater. “We made this change for a couple of reasons,” says Bob Hadsell, Draper’s home theater sales manager. “First of all, this new formulation reduces hot spotting while providing better off-axis viewing.…

Draper debuted several products at InfoComm 2010. One of them, an addition to its Scissor Lift line, debuted in dramatic fashion, being slowly lowered from the rafters 32 feet above Draper’s booth. Slightly less dramatic was Draper’s presentation of its Paragon/Series V Tab-Tensioned Screen, StageScreen and Cineflex and Uniflex viewing surfaces. Paragon/Series V Designed for large venues, Draper’s Paragon projection screen has been updated with tab-tensioning. It can go as wide as 24 feet, says Jim Hoodlebrink, rental/IDS product manager. It can be recessed in the ceiling, suspended from the…

Draper Low Gain Cineflex screen material
Robert Archer | 05/17 04:59 AM,
In preparation for the upcoming InfoComm show in Las Vegas in a couple of weeks, Ind.-based Draper, Inc. announced two new projection screen products for commercial applications.
Highlighting the two new product announcements is the Low Gain Cineflex product, which the company says provides users with a wider viewing angle, while retaining high contrast levels.
The .8-gain screen is designed to minimize hot spotting, which allows it to be used for applications such as short-throw setups in church audio/video systems.
