We’re almost a quarter of the way into 2025, which means it’s that time of the year again for Josh.ai dealers as the company holds its annual Winter Launch Event. The event, held in March, generally marks a slew of new developments for the Josh.ai platform, with last year’s event seeing the release of the then new Josh Touchscreen control panel and Nimble DevSuite platform.
DoorLink Tops the List of New Developments from Launch Event
While much of 2025’s Winter Launch event focused on improvements and expansions to existing features, DoorLink stands out as an entirely new capability coming to the Josh.ai platform.
According to the company, DoorLink allows users to greet guests, verify identities, and grant access to their property through either voice commands or the tap of a button. Other features of the system include push notifications on activity detection, camera analysis and generative surveillance insights via Josh Vision, all of which fall in line with the ongoing trend of companies using AI to bolster their security systems.

Josh.ai is describing the new feature as a “complete access control system powered by AI OS,” currently available to users of the Josh Touchscreen with it arrive on the Josh app later this month. Initially, the system will be launching with compatibility for DoorBird and 2N devices to enable two-intercom communication.
In Addition to a New Josh AV Controller
In addition to DoorLink, Josh has also announced the launch of a new audio controller for the Josh App. This new feature will take the form of a new discovery page on the app that will feature recently played content, the client’s complete music library, personal playlists, a favorites section and all available streaming services.

The new feature will also include dynamic content personalization in the form of rotating music selections based on user listening history and other forms of music suggestions for discovery of new channels.
- As part of the new update, Josh has also revamped AV routing through the app, with users being able to group content currently being played from one area to another.
The new music controller is available now in the Josh App across currently supported streaming platforms, including Sonos, Autonomic, and Denon Heos. In tandem with the launch, Josh.ai is rolling out its WiiM support today and will be pushing BluOS integration later this month.
Expansions to Nimble DevSuite Integrations
Another approach Josh is taking to expanding platform capabilities is through its Nimble DevSuite, with 2025’s Winter Launch Event adding 15 new integrations to the platform that include Lutron Triathalon shading and Lumaris tape lighting; HoneyWell Home, Resideo, Nexia and American Standard thermostats; Schlage V2 API locks; and Samsung projectors.
- Originally launched at the 2024 Winter Launch Event, Nimble DevSuite is Josh.ai’s open API platform designed to facilitate quicker developments of integrations for its platform.
- As the industry has continued to grow, integrations and interoperability between different platforms and devices has become a major differentiator among smart home offerings in the professional channel.
Other integrations include LG TVs and soundbars, Autonomic M3 and M5 Pro Players, AVPro Edge Matrix Switchers, Origin Acoustics Amplifiers and Wiim and BluOS audio streamers.
There’s Also Updates to Josh One Hardware and JoshGPT Software for 2025
Rounding out the announcements from the 2025 Josh.ai Winter Launch Event, the company has also announced a completely redesigned processor for Josh One, the company’s smart home control platform, emphasizing compactness without sacrificing performance.
- The new process has a height of only 1.07 inches, width of 3.35 inches, and depth of 3.35 inches.
- Under the hood, the updated Josh One is equipped with a 4-Core ARM Processor with speeds up to 1.5 GHz.

Additionally, the Josh Edge remote is receiving new customization updates that will allow professionals to add an extra flair to the upper six buttons on the remote. These new buttons will be able to control nearby devices in the remote’s assigned room, activate custom scenes, or launch specific services depending on the device.
JoshGPT, the AI OS software that powers the Josh device ecosystem is also getting an upgrade to 3.0, which consists of a general improvement to existing interactions, in addition to some newer, niche interactions.
- For example, asking “Hey Josh, play that song about drinking pina coladas in the rain,” will reportedly result in Josh.ai searching and finding “Escape (The Pina Colada Song)” by Rupert Holmes
- Sports fans will be able to request real time scores, game schedules and certain statistics on command.
- Users can also allegedly set lighting scenes by describing motifs or color palettes to the system.
The Impact of AI in the Smart Home
In speaking on the new developments, Josh.ai CEO Alex Capecelatro stated “I am blown away by the amount of new innovations and solutions our team is announcing today,” before going on to say, “These updates will certainly have a sizable impact on how our industry looks at control in the age of AI.”
Long a pioneer of AI and voice control in the smart home, the new developments for Josh.ai reflect an emerging trend of companies in the professional install channel using AI and voice. Nice has made similar movements with the release of its own AI assistant, which launched late in December of 2024.
The ultimate goal of these developments, both companies state, is to drastically improve the process of creating automations and scenes for clients post-install, taking burden off integrators during install and giving customers more freedom over their smart homes.
In closing, Capecelatro concludes, “I cannot wait for everyone to try the newly imagined music experience we are introducing today, this might be my favorite new way to engage with and control music!”
