Niles Audio 8-inch RS8SiPro rock speaker
Rachel Cericola | 04/13 12:52 PM, 1 Comment
The warmer weather has us thinking about firing up the BBQ. OK, we didn’t need the weather for that. But to hang out in the elements, your clients need something more enticing than charred meat. Niles Audio hopes to get them outdoors with the sound of summer with its new GeoRealistic Pro Series Rock and Planter Speakers. Both are designed to live outside and blend into the backdrop. The GeoRealistic Pro includes the 5-inch RS5Pro, the 6-inch RS6Pro, the 6-inch RS6SiPro with dual tweeters, and the 8-inch RS8SiPro with dual… View this story

What does a professional baseball player do months before he has to trade uniforms and play for a team in different city? Get a high-end home audio system installed in his house, of course. That’s what new Red Sox relief pitcher Mark Melancon did just before he packed up for Florida for spring training. Previously with the Houston Astros, Melancon still makes his home in Texas. He recently had a new Niles ICS whole-house audio system installed by Modia. Melancon hadn’t ever seen (or heard) a whole-house audio system like… View this story

Niles has announced the return of Hank “Moose” Alexander to the company to serve as its new western regional sales manager, reporting directly to Niles president Mike “Sparky” Detmer. Alexander assumes the position vacated by Kenneth Johnsen, who has been promoted to serve as The AVC Group’s international training manager. “The return of Moose Alexander to our team speaks volumes about the many exciting things that are happening today at Niles,” Detmer said. “I had a feeling that when Moose left us two years ago he would be back and… View this story

Niles president Mike “Sparky” Detmer can’t count the number of dealers that have requested whole-house control via Niles’ popular IntelliControl ICS multiroom audio system. The infrastructure is there with the modular ICS system, so why not also control lighting, thermostats, TVs and other subsystems? And, by the way, how about some iPhone control? Now you can, thanks to the first real collaboration between Niles and sister company Elan Home Systems. Both companies, along with Xantech, were rolled up into the Nortek AVC (Audio Video Control) group last year. Yesterday, AVC… View this story

It’s been more than a year since Elan Home Systems, Niles and Xantech joined forces under one umbrella, The AVC Group, LLC, a division of Nortek's (OTCBB: NTKS) Home Technology Group. The three companies are finally formalizing a new structure of collaboration, starting with a consolidation of rep firms from 45 down to 15. We’ve seen some collaboration from the entities in the past, but it has been little more than a bunch of handshakes and a commitment to help each other. Today, The AVC (Audio Video Control) Group is… View this story

Niles Audio is recalling about 2,270 iRemoteTS and iC2 remote control systems due to a potential fire hazard. According to a statement sent out by Niles and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Niles received two reports from consumers who had issues with the batteries in the Niles remotes. One of the batteries ignited and singed a carpet, while the other produced smoked. Niles says, “If the battery falls from the remote control during handling, it can rupture and smoke or ignite, posing a fire hazard.” Niles is recalling models… View this story

Moving strategically to strengthen the long-term R&D and product development programs for its Elan, Niles, Xantech, Sunfire, and Aton brands, The AVC Group announced the appointment of Jim Hardiman to the position of vice president of engineering, effective January 3, 2011. Hardiman will report directly to Mark Terry, president of The AVC Group, and will be based at the company’s Carlsbad, California corporate headquarters. “Jim Hardiman brings more than 35 years of proven innovation and standards-setting thinking to his new position at The AVC Group,” Terry says. “A world-renowned technologist,… View this story

Niles Audio is one of the custom electronics industry's oldest manufacturers and its products have been used in countless installations. The company's Direct Soundfield (DS) in-ceiling loudspeakers are the newest product offerings from the long-time custom installation company, and to help installers address specific market niches, Niles has divided the line into five individual categories. The five categories---multipurpose (MP), performance (PR), high definition (HD), surround effects (FX) and stereo input (SI)---are organized in a manner to help dealers to spec the right speaker for the right application. Within the product… View this story

Three months after Niles Audio moved from Miami to Carlsbad, Calif., president Mike “Sparky” Detmer is starting to get the hang of it. The weather is nice, he says, but the cost of living is a bummer. “A box of Kashi costs $5,” he says. The move was part of a consolidation by parent company Linear, a subsidiary of Nortek Inc. Earlier this year, Linear created the Audio Video Control group, combining Niles, Xantech and Elan Home Systems under one roof. For years, the like-minded companies operated autonomously in Miami,… View this story

Nortek Inc. is consolidating its Linear Audio Video Control properties under one roof in Carlsbad, Calif. The AVC group was formed in April of this year, combining Niles Audio, Xantech and Elan Home Systems into a more unified entity headed by former Harman executive Mark Terry. Niles will close its Miami offices by the end of the year. Ditto for Xantech, which will move out of its Sylmar office in Northern Calif. Elan (including the Aton and Sunfire brands) will maintain a small R&D presence in Lexington, Ky., but otherwise… View this story
