The coolest thermostat on the planet just got cooler. The Nest Learning Thermostat ($249) has added Energy History and Airwave features that cut the energy needed to cool a client's house to a desired temperature. Clients who bought the original Nest and are connected to Wi-Fi are receiving automatic software updates. The Nest Learning Thermostat features an elegant round design and one-button simplicity, while learning a client's routines over the course of a week to self-program itself. Honeywell Sues Nest Labs for Patent Infringement on Thermostats

The Nest learning thermostat has been receiving a lot of good buzz. But Honeywell isn’t so pleased. Honeywell has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Nest Labs, alleging that the start-up company has infringed on seven Honeywell patents related to thermostat technology. Filed today in the U.S. District Court in Minnesota, the company also links Best Buy to the lawsuit.
