Klipsch Files Lawsuits Over Counterfeit Headphones

Klipsch is taking legal action against 23 Chinese parties associated with the manufacturing and selling of counterfeit Klipsch Image S4 and Klipsch Image S4i headphones under the Klipsch brand name. According to a statement on the company's website, on Dec. 16, 2011, Klipsch received an order from the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York that allowed the suspension of service to trade boards selling fake Klipsch headphones. WiSA to Set Standard for Wireless Audio

A new organization called WiSA (Wireless Speaker and Audio) hopes to propagate a standard for wireless 7.1 surround sound. It is being driven by HDMI developer Silicon Image along with Summit Wireless, developer of the wireless audio technology on which the WiSA “standard” is based. Audiovox Changes Name to VOXX

VOXX International Corporation (NASDAQ:VOXX) has become the new corporate name of Audiovox Corporation. The company, which owns custom brands such as Klipsch, Terk, Jamo, Energy and Mirage, believes that VOXX International is a name that better represents the widely diversified interests of the company, and the more than 30 global brands it has acquired and grown throughout the years. Paul Jacobs Named President, CEO of Klipsch

Audiovox Corporation has announced that Paul Jacobs has been promoted to president and CEO of Klipsch Group Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Audiovox. Fred Klipsch is stepping down from that position but will remain the Klipsch Group chairman and has agreed to stand for election to the Audiovox Board of Directors at the company’s annual meeting on July 21, 2011. Klipsch Scores Naming Rights to 2 Venues with Live Nation Deal

Klipsch has announced a deal with Live Nation Entertainment that would give the speaker manufacturer naming rights to two U.S. venues. Irving Plaza in New York City will become Irving Plaza Powered by Klipsch, and Miami’s Bayfront Park Amphitheater will change its name to Klipsch Amphitheater at Bayfront Park. Irving Plaza, a 1,200-person ballroom-style music venue typically hosts about 150 events each year. Audiovox Announces Klipsch Acquisition

Audiovox Corporation has formally announced it entered a definitive agreement to acquire Klipsch Group Inc. for $166 million. The deal will be financed by a combination of cash and an asset-based revolving credit facility. The transaction is expected to close within 30 days. The acquisition, which was first announced during CES 2011, turns Klipsch into a wholly-owned subsidiary of Audiovox. Klipsch will be run as a stand-alone operation under its current management team.
