Gary Klasmeier JVC Professional

You’ll be reading more about 4K video as the technology advances, but we wanted to get JVC’s take after bowing its e-Shift 3840x2160 resolution projection at CEDIA Expo. JVC Pro’s Gary Klasmeier tells us why it raises the reference video bar. It took a bit of time for Blu-ray to catch on; how do you think 4K will phase into home entertainment? There are a limited number of 4K formats in the current HDMI specification, but a newer HDMI specification is imminent and should include more 4K formats and higher… View this story

A strong case could be made that no entity has played a bigger role in the growth of projection-based home entertainment systems than JVC and its sister company JVC Professional. JVC and JVC Professional recently introduced several new products each, and highlighting the list of new products is JVC Professional's DLA-RS65 Reference Series projector. The DLA-RS65 utilizes familiar JVC technologies such as the company's D-ILA LCoS-based chipset and new JVC technologies that include e-Shift. JVC says e-Shift is an upscaling technology that upconverts pictures to 3940x2160 resolution levels, which is… View this story

Professional Audio Associates (PAA) really knows how to throw a party. The New England distributor hosted its fourth annual open house on June 22 to the delight of hundreds of local integrators who stopped by throughout the day for show specials from over 30 vendors. The event, hosted by Lew Freedman, gives the distributor a chance to showcase new product for its dealer base. The day was rainy, which meant people were elbow to elbow inside the Woburn, Mass. facility. PAA catered the event with an outdoor barbeque under tents.… View this story

GCI Connected Technologies (formerly Goldberg Company, Inc.), a Mid-Atlantic and Southeast specialty electronics distributor and sales representative company, celebrated the 100th anniversary of the launch of the company and kicked off the next 100 years at its Centennial Celebration Expo. In 1911, LeRoy B. Goldberg founded the Goldberg Company. On June 8, the Richmond, Va.-based company kicked off the event with what it called “the Party of the Century.” GCI Connected Technologies president and third-generation family owner Robert Goldberg got the party started by telling the gathered dealers and manufacturers… View this story

3D is one of the most controversial, exciting technologies to hit the market since HDTV debuted in the late 1990s. With the technology rapidly maturing and content options growing by the minute, installers are at a crossroad of whether to offer this developing - but popular - technology. Unlike HDTV, which offered consumers an instant upgrade over analog video, 3D comes in different flavors, requiring some TLC before client presentations. Installers who are interested in showing 3D solutions to clients should first consider these key points. 3D Images are Less… View this story

Once a 3D system is setup and ready to demo, installers have one more variable to deal with: choosing the right content. To help dealers wade through the mediocrity of 3D content, Runco has developed a content list for installers to use. “We love the 3D content that’s come on to the market during the last few years," says Jennifer Davis, VP of marketing for Runco. "Runco provides a demo guide to our authorized dealers with specific recommendations that includes starting and stopping points for each clip and what to… View this story

JVC Professional Products Company, a division of JVC Americas Corp., has announced its parent organization, JVC KENWOOD Holdings, Inc., has confirmed the safety of its employees and their immediate families following the recent Tohoku earthquake and tsunami. Other manufacturers have not been so lucky. Sony closed seven factories and D&M Holdings' factory sustained major damage. Some of JVC’s offices in Japan suffered minor damage, but they were repaired quickly and have been back in operation since March 14. There was also damage to some sales and service offices in Sendai,… View this story

There’s a small, growing list of video products that have achieved THX certification. But JVC's four new 3D projectors are the first products to gain THX 3D Display Certification. The THX 3D certified projectors, which will be available later in Nov. 2010, are the Reference Series DLA-RS60 ($11,995) and DLA-RS50 ($7,995) and the Procision Series DLA-X9 ($11,995) and DLA-X7 ($7,995). The certification came after a battery of more than 400 laboratory tests. All four projectors feature three 0.7-inch, 1920 x 1080 D-ILA devices and are designed around JVC's third generation… View this story

For years JVC and JVC Pro's lines of Direct Drive Image Light Amplification (D-ILA) projectors have nearly single handedly transformed projection-based video in the home from a small niche pastime to a level of full mainstream acceptance. Now these companies are aiming to further solidify the growing popularity of projection video systems in the home with their latest products. JVC and JVC Pro have recently introduced their respective new DLA-HD250 and DLA-HD250Pro projectors, which incorporate the companies' 0.7-inch 1920x1080 D-ILA liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS) chipsets in products that are… View this story
