Building LEED Homes Can Be Dangerous to Your Staff?

Will working on a LEED home put your technicians in danger? Yes, says a new study on construction safety that shows there are 50 percent more injuries among construction workers on LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) projects than conventional structures. The study, called “Identification of Safety Risks for High-Performance Sustainable Construction Projects,” from a researcher at the University of Colorado, uses anecdotal evidence to make its conclusion, according to an article from freelance journalist Katie Fraser that appear in the Architectural Record. Audiovox Changes Name to VOXX

VOXX International Corporation (NASDAQ:VOXX) has become the new corporate name of Audiovox Corporation. The company, which owns custom brands such as Klipsch, Terk, Jamo, Energy and Mirage, believes that VOXX International is a name that better represents the widely diversified interests of the company, and the more than 30 global brands it has acquired and grown throughout the years. This change will create a corporate umbrella for its various subsidiaries and brands and creates a vehicle for each respective brand to emerge with its own identity, according to the company.…

Verizon Rolls Out Home Monitoring and Control Solution

Telecom giant Verizon has launched its long-anticipated home connectivity and energy management solution, joining huge service providers ADT, Comcast/Xfinity, Alarm.com, Vivint and others in providing basic home control of web-based cameras, wireless thermostats, lights and appliance plug-in modules. Like the other providers, remote control via smartphones is also available.
