Monster PRT 300MC PowerCenter
Rachel Cericola | 01/10 11:29 AM, 0 Comments
Monster is trying to make power protection a little more interesting with its trio of PRT PowerCenters that each come with an app component. The new line includes the PRT 100M (MSRP: $59.95), PRT 100MC ($69.95) and PRT 300MC (pictured, $119.95). Each works in conjunction with Monster’s Gateway GTW 100 ($59.95), which is what makes app access possible. Those looking for an instant solution can buy a package, which includes the gateway and the PRT 300MC for $149.95. The app in question is the Monster Power Control App. Designed to… View this story

As part of my morning ritual I read Twitter. I find Twitter entertaining and, at times, almost addicting. This morning a tweet from Production Advice's Ian Shepherd shocked me with concern for an electronics category that I think is beneficial: cabling. Shepherd retweeted a blog written by L.A. recording engineer Bobby Owsinski, who blogged about a 2008 Engadget story that asked 12 "audiophiles" to compare an audiophile cable brand with another cabling product. It turns out the other cabling product was a set of coat hangers. The crux of the… View this story

A few days before Earth, Wind & Fire played the Welcome America celebration on July 4th in Philadelphia, they stopped in at a nearby audio/video dealer’s shop for a special event. The band is launching a line of headphones with Monster, starting with the $229 Gratitude earbuds, and used Montgomeryville, Pa.'s World Wide Stereo as a venue to chat with customers and show off the new products. A mock-up of an over-the-ear headphone was also shown. World Wide Stereo (No. 19 on the CE Pro 100) owner Bob Cole noted… View this story

Monster Vision Max 3D Glasses
Rachel Cericola | 01/06 02:18 PM, 0 Comments
Back in June, Monster Cable was making waves by announcing its Monster Vision Max 3D glasses via a Twitter pic. A press release did follow. Now the company is filling in a few more gaps, announcing a release date and updated pricing. According to Big Picture Big Sound, Monster has the Monster Vision Max 3D glasses on display at CES 2011. Monster says those glasses will start selling through Amazon.com on January 30, 2011. The Monster Vision Max 3D glasses will sell in a kit with one pair of glasses… View this story

How do Monster’s new RF-enabled “universal” 3D glasses really work? They’re handy for spaces with multiple televisions or where line-of-sight is an issue. But they’re like to suffer from skewed coloring since different manufacturers calibrate their 3D TVs and tint their glasses differently. That’s the verdict of HD Guru Gary Merson, who tried out the specs earlier this week and visited with officials from both Monster Cable and Bit Cauldron, developer of the technology. Bit Cauldron demonstrated its RF synchronization technology for the first time during CES 2010. The company… View this story

Details are just trickling in, but it appears that Monster Cable is launching a line of 3D glasses that require no line of sight and work with virtually any 3D TV on the market. Through Twitter, Monster posted the image below, with the comment, "New MonsterVISION Max3D glasses just introduced.. no need for line of sight, they work using RF!" During CEPro Live! last week, Sony had discussed issues with today's IR-based 3D setups that require a clear line of sight for synchronization. The sun, CFL bulbs and other factors… View this story

The founder of Monster Cable, Head Monster Noel Lee, agreed to answer your questions. Watch the videos below. Here are the questions I asked. What will the wired versus wireless mix be for home electronics in five, 10 and 20 years? - Brad Smith [0:23 of Part 1 video] Why are you so lawsuit-happy? Why pick on little companies that aren’t in the CE industry [refers to Monster Mini Golf] and seemingly don’t affect Monster Cable? - Sean [2:38 of Part 1] Is there still a necessity for power conditioning… View this story
