Is it Fair to Favor Women in Federal Contracts?

We wrote recently about a federal mandate that requires 5% of government prime- and subcontracts go to small businesses run by women. The “problem” with the current Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) Federal Contract program, apparently, is that it is too restrictive. In order to invoke the money set aside for this program, the contracting officer at a government agency has to have a reasonable expectation that two or more WOSBs will submit offers for the job. CompTIA Projects 4.5% IT Industry Growth in 2012

Information technology (IT) companies express tempered optimism heading into the first quarter of 2012, though longer-term prospects look more promising, according to the IT Industry Outlook 2012 released by CompTIA, the non-profit association for the IT industry. CompTIA projects a worldwide IT industry growth rate of 4.5 percent in 2012, with upside potential of 7.6 percent. The forecast for the U.S. market is slightly lower. CompTIA Expands Security Trustmark Certification Program

CompTIA, the non-profit association for the information technology (IT) industry, has expanded its CompTIA Security Trustmark program to include two levels of the business accreditation, which identifies companies that follow industry-accepted best security processes. The CompTIA Security Trustmark now includes Associate Level and Verified Level statuses.
