The newly announced Pro-Ject Automat A1 turntable is the popular audio company’s first automatic turntable.
Sumiko and Pro-Ject USA state the new Automat series of turntables are handmade in Germany, and the products are designed to balance the classic attributes of vinyl playback with modern styling and features.
The Pro-Ject Automat A1 turntable comes with a factory installed and aligned Ortofon OM10 phono cartridge that’s fitted to an 8.3-inch aluminum, low-mass tone arm. Pro-Ject notes the turntable also incorporates a built-in phono preamplifier, as well as an aluminum platter with a dampening ring, and a resonance-damped chassis.
Other features included in the Pro-Ject Automat A1 turntable range from the unit’s precise mechanics that control its start and stop functions, to its electronically controlled playback speed options.
Pro-Ject USA and Sumiko also point out the new turntable features silicon-dampened isolation feet, a carbon-fiber reinforced non-magnetic headshell, gold-plated RCA cable connectors, and a semi-symmetrical Connect it E phono cable.
Additionally, the Automat A1 turntable ships with a dust cover, and Sumiko and Pro-Ject USA emphasize, the product will be available in limited quantities through authorized dealers in February 2022.
