The large kitchen and bath company Moen points out that some of the most catastrophic events can be unpredictable; water leaks. For example the company says, are one of the leading causes of preventable insurance claims each year with the average claim for non-weather-related water damage costing nearly $10,000. Moen has found that two out of five homeowners have experienced water damage due to leaks but is actively working to educate and provide initiatives to help homeowners through the Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff. The brand has partnered with the non-profit, Rebuilding Together Miami-Dade, to validate the amount of water that Flo saves when installed in homes.  

About the Partnership 

• Miami-Dade has funded 200 Flo units and is collaborating with the Water Authority to compare water usage before and after installation relative to previous neighborhood data.  
• Moen discovered that the city’s quarterly water bill distribution can prohibit consumers from noticing potential leaks to potentially lead to high water bills. Miami-Dade currently forgives excess charges in these situations, but only once.  
• The kitchen and bath company asserts this partnership benefits consumers allowing them to catch leaks and wastage in real time and saves on water leak write-offs.  
• The partnership also aims to foster new partnerships with Moen and support the creation of federal and state water-saving rebates and requirements.  
• A press event on August 7 at Rebuilding Together’s offices highlighted Flo’s positive impact on water conservation in South Florida.
