The popular electronics company Sonos has been at the forefront of modern home audio market for more than two decades, and affirming its position as a technology leader, Sonos now at the forefront of home theater, including immersive home theater.
Through the years the company has evolved its product line to offer a range of single-room and whole-house audio products that are supported by an operating system that enables the discovery of music via a choice of streaming services that include Apple Music, Spotify, TIDAL and many others.
When Sonos entered the home theater category it created created a selection of components that include its original soundbars and subwoofers that could be used to tailor a surround sound system to just about anyone’s usage requirements. Today, not only does Sonos‘ product line support whole-house audio and surround sound, it now supports immersive home theater that includes personal immersive audio via the company’s Ace Headphones.
Sonos Immersive Home Theater Products Address the Modern Smart Home
The current Sonos home theater product line includes solutions such as the Sub 4, Beam (Gen 2), the affordable Ray soundbar, and the company’s flagship home theater product, the Arc Ultra soundbar. These products can be combined with the company’s other products to create system configurations that range from basic stereo to enhance the sound of today’s TVs, to full immersive home theaters through products like the Arc Ultra and Sub 4.
Casey Clemons, senior director Americas Professional, Sonos, points out that in addition to its state-of-the-art product line and advanced operating system that allows homeowners to experience home theater and whole-house audio, the company has been augmenting its theater capabilities to make its platform more user friendly.
“So the big one for us recently that got a lot of coverage which we’re really excited about because of some of the stuff that we were able to do to address some primary concerns of listeners in the home theater space is our AI speech enhancement,” he explains. “I don’t think it’s a well-kept secret that people’s main complaint when it comes to watching movies and TV shows these days is people can’t hear the dialog. They want to be able to hear what people are saying in these scenes that are so well acted, so well written. But, of course, whether it be a bad sound mix, or whether it just be, you know, a TV that just can’t handle all the different aspects of the soundtrack. At the same time people are often times turning up the remote, going up, down, up, down, turning it up, when someone’s talking, turning it back down when a sound in the soundtrack kicks up with music or whether there is a big explosion in the background.”
