Feeling rested, refreshed and relaxed, it’s a great complement to the laid-back vibe as they soak in the spectacular ocean view from an infinity-edge swimming in San Diego, California.
The house itself runs off a host of subsystems under the management of a Crestron Pro-4 Home Automation Processor, but it’s the Lutron centralized control system that steals the show with the lighting design. Every fixture, from the impressive custom chandeliers all the way down to the pool lighting are equipped with circadian functionality and choreographed to perfectly sync up with the phases of the sun.
Lutron Control Systems Add Unmatched Simplicity to Circadian Lighting
Choreographed by a Lutron centralized control system, the lighting control extends way beyond basic on/off, brighten/dim. By tying in a Lutron DMX processor Audio Impact took advantage of the color-tunable fixture ensure the tailored lighting scenes mimic the natural progression of the sun.
The owners requested specifically that the lights produce a rich yellow hue in the morning and evening for a calming effect to promote better sleep and alleviate anxiety and stress. In response, the team even went so far as to assign light sensors and a specially designed button on Lutron Palladiom keypad to initiate the effect at will.
Audio Impact worked closely with lighting fixture manufacturers to ensure compatibility with Lutron components and that the specs of the fixtures would meet all circadian lighting requirements. Additionally, the Audio Impact team coordinated with many subcontractors to perfect the look and functionality of the lighting design: the pool company, shower shelving company, tile company, cabinetmakers, and others.
A centerpiece in the home, the chandelier, shifts to the perfect mood the second the owners cross the threshold; the discreet yet impactful illumination extends to every area of the home, the peaceful atmosphere enhanced by fully automated, app-controlled motorized shades, AV, ocean view pool and spa, fireplaces, garage doors, motorized gates, front door, cameras, alarm system and home theater.
The end result proves that through persistent testing, partnering with other trades, and purposeful programming, lighting can contribute to the cosmetics and the health of a home.
