Designed by Global Wave Integration, the Brentwood residential project exemplifies how wellness-focused smart home technology can coexist within a cinematic AV system, delivering an immersive media room that supports entertainment, productivity and relaxation.
Maintaining Design Integrity While Bolstering Functionality
One of the biggest challenges faced by Global Wave on the project was the audio integration. The room lacked an attic space, eliminating the possibility of traditional in-ceiling speaker installation. To solve this, the team raised the ceiling just enough to accommodate overhead speakers while carefully preserving the room’s exposed wooden beams.
Acoustically transparent printed fabric, custom-designed to match the existing wood grain, was then employed, allowing high-performance TPI speakers to remain completely concealed while delivering full-range, immersive sound.
Spatial limitations added another layer of complexity. With no room for speakers on the left wall, the system design incorporated a speaker above the window and another integrated into a built-in bookcase, both hidden behind fabric.
The rear wall, unable to support in-wall speakers, utilized on-wall models mounted with manufacturer-provided brackets to preserve performance while streamlining installation.
With limited interior space available, the rack was also relocated to a modified exterior area, allowing proper ventilation without introducing visual clutter into the room.
A DCI-Compliant Video Wall for True Cinematic Impact
Video performance presented an entirely separate set of constraints. The space had no room for a traditional projector and screen, prompting the team to craft a DCI-compliant video wall for the homeowner.

The video wall’s performance elevates the space beyond a typical home theater, aligning more closely with commercial cinema standards while fitting seamlessly into the architectural envelope.
Creating a Wellness-Focused Media Room Through the Wave of Wellness (WoW) App
What truly sets this media room apart is its intentional focus on wellness technology. The integration of the Wave of Wellness (WoW) app (a bespoke wellness app created by Global Wave for projects such as this) transforms the media room into a multi-sensory retreat, extending its purpose beyond entertainment.
The WoW app combines curated naturescapes, immersive spatial audio and human-centric lighting.
Together, these elements allow the homeowner to personalize the environment, whether used for mindfulness sessions, work-from-home productivity or decompression at the end of the day.
