HARMAN Luxury Audio Group has dropped a glut of new speakers while exhibiting at ISE 2026, introducing nine new loudspeakers to the JBL Synthesis Custom (SCL) line alongside three processing and amplification components, making it the brand’s largest product overhaul in a long while.

Designed as a System, Not Standalone Products

Rather than envisioning them as isolated products, JBL Synthesis says it designed the 2026 lineup with a system-level approach in mind for its immersive audio line.

“Loudspeakers, processing, amplification and subwoofers are developed together to ensure consistent voicing, predictable performance, and scalable system design across a wide range of residential applications,” notes JBL in a press release detailing the launch.

Adding onto this statement, Jim Garrett, Senior Director, Product Strategy and Planning, HARMAN Luxury Audio is quoted separately as saying, “With this new generation of JBL Synthesis loudspeakers and electronics, we’re delivering the most complete and flexible immersive audio ecosystem we’ve ever offered.”

More About the New JBL Synthesis SCL Lineup

The new JBL Synthesis Custom Loudspeakers span both architectural in-wall designs and new in-room and on-wall solutions with all models being timbre-matched and engineered to integrate simply within complete JBL Synthesis systems.

SCL In-Wall Loudspeakers

Designed for architectural installations, the new SCL in-wall models update and expand the flagship lineup with the latest JBL transducer technologies, compression drivers and HDI horn geometry. The series includes four models:

  • SCL-2XL—A high-output, reference-grade speaker with quad 8-inch woofers for LCR applications behind acoustically transparent screens in large and extra-large rooms.
  • SCL-4XL—A dual 8-inch speaker designed for wide, consistent coverage and balanced performance as a cinema speaker.
  • SCL-6XL—A quad 6.5-inch speaker tuned to deliver high performance with installer-friendly features and efficient architectural integration.
  • SCL-7XL—A dual 6.5-inch in-wall loudspeaker with an offset HDI horn design that allows sound to be precisely aimed toward the listening area, ideal for surround and center-channel applications.

Addressing applications where in-wall installation is not possible, JBL Synthesis is also introducing a new range of in-room and on-wall loudspeakers designed to blend into a home’s architecture:

  • SCL-10XL—A flagship in-room/built-in loudspeaker with dual 10-inch woofers, engineered for reference-level output behind projection screens or within cabinetry.
  • SCL-10—A more compact dual 6.5-inch in-room/built-in speaker offering dynamics and flexibility tuned for medium to large rooms.
  • SCL-9XL—A high-output quad 5.25-inch on-wall loudspeaker designed for large displays and immersive systems.
  • SCL-9—A slim dual 5.25-inch on-wall loudspeaker ideal for LCR or surround use in design-driven spaces.
  • SSW-5—A new 12-inch, 1,000W powered subwoofer designed deep, accurate low-frequency performance.

JBL Synthesis Processing and Amplification

Complementing the expanded loudspeaker lineup, JBL Synthesis is also introducing three advanced electronics designed to anchor modern immersive systems:

  • SDP-70 Immersive AV Processor—A 24-channel processing platform offering advanced Dirac Live Active Room Treatment (ART) and network-ready architecture.
  • SDP-60 Immersive AV Processor—A 16-channel processor equipped with reference-grade decoding, balanced outputs, Matrix Channel Assignment and support for Dirac Live ART optimization.
  • SDR-40 Immersive AV Receiver—An all-in-one solution combining 16-channel processing with nine channels of Class G amplification, delivering high output, efficiency and streamlined system deployment.

The components also support supporting Dolby Atmos, DTS:X Pro, IMAX Enhanced and AURO-3D immersive formats.

Early Previews and Availability of JBL SCL Speaker Products

The new lineup of JBL Synthesis SCL speakers begins shipping this summer, though no specific date has been given.

Attendees to ISE 2026 will be able to get an early look at the speakers and components and in HARMAN’s dedicated theater (stand 2F150).
