The British home audio company, Monitor Audio, which is distributed in the U.S. by Kevro, inc., has announced a white finish for its Studio 89 loudspeakers.
Originally announced in July 2024, Monitor Audio says the Studio 89 loudspeakers were inspired by products it developed back in the 1980s. Kevro points out when the products were introduced they came into the market with an MSRP of $2,499 per pair, and the optional speaker stands are available for a retail price of $749 per pair.
Studio 89 Loudspeakers Utilize Proprietary Technologies
The Monitor Audio speaker incorporates twin bass-mid driver cones that are made up of three ultra-thin layers to ensure rigidity and strength. A Nomex honeycombed core is sandwiched between an ultra-thin and ultra-rigid C-CAM (Ceramic-Coated Aluminum Magnesium) layer and a twin-layer of uni-directional Carbon Fibre, which are layered and bonded at 90 degrees to each other for even greater strength.
The Studio 89 positions the latest MPD (Micro-Pleated Diaphragm) III high-frequency transducer between twin RDT III 4 ¼-inch bass-mid drivers, while a optimized third-order crossover helps to ensure an ideal frequency response across each drive unit for total symmetry and controlled sound dispersion.Â
To ensure optimum rigidity, the Studio 89 speakers use bespoke metals for each section of the dedicated Studio 89 Stand. The top plate is laser-cut steel, the pole is extruded aluminum and the base is die-cast aluminum. The four adjustable feet are supplied with both chrome-plated spikes for carpeted floors and domed rubber feet for hard floors.
Studio 89 is now available in two carefully curated finishes from Kevro: Originally launched in high-gloss black, the speaker is now offered in high-gloss white, retaining the same gold-anodized drive units. Additionally, the optional Studio 89 Stand is now available in a matching high-gloss white, providing placement versatility in a range of home environments.
