As a standalone solution the Strato E provides enough storage to hold approximately six movies, and like other Strato products, the product can be used for whole-house AV applications.

Kaleidescape, a manufacturer of high-performance home entertainment systems, has announced the Strato E, which the company says serves users as an entry-level 4K movie player for residential, marine, and commercial theater systems.

The Strato E supports reference 4K video output with SDR (standard dynamic range), HDR10, and Dolby Vision. Like all Kaleidescape movie players, the company notes the Strato E supports lossless multichannel and spatial object-based audio, including Dolby Atmos and DTS:X.

Kaleidescape asserts the Strato E enhances its lineup of movie players with the Strato M as a reference 2K player, the Strato E as the product line’s entry 4K player, and Strato V as the company’s flagship 4K player. The company also points out that its Strato C remains the best player for compatibility with Kaleidescape legacy products.

“Our goal is to bring Kaleidescape to more customers by offering a range of movie players that fit the needs of a variety of projects,” says Tayloe Stansbury, chairman and CEO of Kaleidescape. “Strato E stays true to our commitment to performance and quality, with a lower cost of entry.”

Strato E Delivers Lossless 4K and Immersive Audio in Dedicated Rooms and Whole-House Systems

The home AV company emphasizes the Strato E works on its own or as part of a larger Kaleidescape system. As a standalone system, the Strato E provides a single playback zone that holds a half-dozen movies on an internal solid-state drive—downloading a movie in about 10 minutes over gigabit Ethernet. The component’s interface has also been streamlined to make navigating a smaller movie library a little easier, offering automatic offloading of watched movies 48 hours after playback to make room for more movies. Purchased movies can be redownloaded at any time. All movie players can also be grouped with Terra Prime movie servers to increase movie storage.

Kaleidescape adds that Strato movie players provide access to the Kaleidescape movie store, which offers a range of digital content with lossless audio and full reference video quality. The movie store’s content includes thousands of 4K and HD titles for purchase or rent, including movies, TV series, and concerts.
