This luxury oceanfront luxury suite on Hilton Head Island blends panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean with motorized shading, voice control and lift-concealed entertainment options, all brought together with system design by Audio Video Outfitters (AV Outfitters).
Oceanfront Luxury Meets Natural Lighting Control in This Primary Suite
According to AV Outfitters, behind the serenity lies one of the most technically demanding smart shade integrations the team has executed.
“Unlike typical installations, which allow for shade calibration at any point, this project demanded precise calibration before the trim was finalized,” explains Brit Smith, Finance Assistant/Marketing Coordinator at AV Outfitters.
“Any error would have necessitated ripping wood down and redoing everything again.”
The window layout added further complexity to the installation: tightly grouped corner panes required exact measurements and flawless alignment to ensure the shades descend in perfect unison.
Despite these challenges, AV Outfitters delivered on a solution that can cleanly slide into position at either the touch of a button or voice command, stopping precisely at floor level when fully extended. When retracted, the motorized shades disappear completely, preserving uninterrupted panoramic ocean views.
Lift-Concealed TVs Provide Covert Entertainment
Another standout challenge involved integrating a 55-inch Samsung Class S95D OLED 4K TV on a lift system within a wall that also houses a pocket door. Limited stud placement required strategic reinforcement to secure the mount without interfering with door functionality.
All supporting AV equipment also needed to be concealed behind the television while ensuring the lift mechanism operated smoothly and safely.
Opposite the lift-mounted display, a 55-inch Samsung The Frame provides a design-forward solution, transforming into digital artwork when not in use. Together, the dual-display layout ensures immersive entertainment from both the bed and lounge seating area, without compromising the room’s tranquil ambiance.
Coastal Living Augmented by Precision Lighting Control
The entire suite operates under a fully integrated Control4 smart home system, with voice control powered by Josh.ai. Lighting and shading enhance both daytime vibrancy and evening relaxation, the interplay between which transforms the luxury suite into a private sanctuary.
Scenes can even be adjusted without ever leaving bed, whether dimming lights for a late-night movie or lowering shades to soften the coastal glare.
Shading’s Pivotal Role in Oceanfront Elegance
Luxury oceanfront homes increasingly integrate advanced smart home technology as a foundational feature to help accentuate the coastal lifestyle of their inhabitants.
Among these homes, motorized shading often stands as the defining feature, the design of which being integral to capturing the pristine ocean and beachside views.
For this project, the design and presentation of the master suite as a luxury seaside sanctuary was paramount for AV Outfitters, especially given the pristine real estate the home has on Hilton Head Island.
The result is a space underpinned by meticulous engineering with shades descending in perfect symmetry, televisions disappearing and reappearing as needed, and lighting that adapts to the mood, all while the ocean remains the focal point.
