Lightapalooza is introducing an all new educational track the in the power category hosted by RoseWater Energy, along with Apex Technologies, Savant and other power management providers for the show’s 2026 outing.
Lightapalooza 2026 Five-Course Educational Power Track
The Power Track at Lightapalooza 2026 will aim to provide both technical depth and practical sales insight for attendees, beginning with residential power fundamentals and advancing through targeted discussions of power management, smart electrical infrastructure, generator optimization and whole-home energy systems.
Leading the education will be Joe Piccirilli of RoseWater Energy alongside other power and energy experts from Apex Technologies, Savant and more.
Following an introductory course are four advanced sessions that build toward complete smart energy system design:
- Course 2: Targeted Power Management – A practical look at rack-level and device-specific solutions, including PDUs, UPS systems, power conditioning, and real-world application scenarios.
- Course 3: Intelligence Infrastructure / Smart Electrical Panels – An overview of the smart panel market, key use cases, deployment strategies, and integration considerations.
- Course 4: Leveling Up – Improving the Value of the Generator – Examining generator limitations and how pairing generators with smart power, batteries, and intelligent transfer strategies improves performance and ROI.
- Course 5: Whole-Home Energy Systems – Covering battery energy storage systems (BESS), single-line diagrams, system sizing methodologies, operational modes, and power source combinations.
Power Track to Include Foundational Course for Beginners.
The cornerstone of this educational series will be a 90-minute foundational course offering a comprehensive overview of how power enters, flows through and impacts today’s luxury homes.
The course will explore the differences between all-inclusive and device-specific power management solutions, examine power quality versus backup strategies, and review traditional residential power topology, including service entrances, load distribution and proper system sizing.
Attendees will also gain insight into market forces such as Net Energy Metering (NEM), Time-of-Use (ToU) rates, electrification, EV charging and utility service limits, helping them align system designs with real-world conditions.
Trends in Power and Energy
While lighting remains the main point of interest at Lightapalooza (and indeed throughout most of custom integration) power and energy management has steadily crept into the spotlight at both a consumer and integrator level.
- For integrators, power management is viewed as an essential insurance policy meant to safeguard sensitive systems from failure outside of their control.
- For homeowners, energy and power systems provide a level of continuity and resilience in their lives, with energy savings being a small bonus.
The main driver behind this interest continues to be a heightened state of grid instability across the U.S., driven largely by extreme weather events and increased power consumption by AI data centers and industrial onshoring.
The challenge for many integrators curious about getting started in areas like home battery backup or smart energy management, however, continues to be the complexity of the home power grid itself.
