CEDIA, the Association for Smart Home Professionals, has announced it will champion Smart Home Day on Nov. 3 to raise global awareness for professionals in the industry. This year’s theme will focus on the important relationship between integrators and design-build professionals, showcasing the mutual benefits of both industries and their clients.

“Smart home integrators are indispensable collaborators in the residential design process but are often brought in late to a project or treated as an afterthought,” says Daryl Friedman, global president and CEO of CEDIA. “The 2025 edition of Smart Home Day will raise awareness to related trades about the value to their clients of using a professional integrator to create technology experiences that seamlessly complement a home’s aesthetics and functionality.”

CEDIA to Offer a Range of Mechanisms to Support Smart Home Day

The trade group will offer a variety of opportunities for the design & build community as well as ways integrators can support cross-collaboration:

For Design & Build Professionals

  • Webinars and video demos on trending technologies and the benefits of using a CEDIA member
  • Workshops and demo sessions in local communities with opportunities to interact with smart home products and meet local integrators
  • Joint research from CEDIA and the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) |Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) examining the integration of smart technology within homes
  • In-person Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) + CEDIA Summit featuring architect and integrator case studies, live demos, and future-focused discussions
  • Blog posts and articles exploring trends and integrations
  • Inspiration galleries to demonstrate integrated design possibilities

For Integrators

  • Customizable toolkits with social media graphics, email templates, and ideas for local outreach
  • Resources to open showrooms or host in-person events with design & build professionals
  • Tips on how to engage with architects, designers, and builders to create long-term partnerships
  • A dedicated session at CEDIA Expo explaining the benefits of participating in the day’s activities and how to leverage available resources to make the most impact

Smart Home Day is just one of CEDIA’s efforts to expand awareness of the custom integration trade. The association has also launched a consumer outreach campaign to educate homeowners on the value of professional integration, advocated for policies impacting the professional smart home industry during CEDIA on the Hill Day, and partnered with NKBA|KBIS for a research study to examine the integration of smart technology within homes.
