Alex Tagliani Smart Home: Why I Came to CEDIA Expo

IndyCar driver Alex Tagliani talks about the design of his new smart home, specifically the home theater, and what he was looking for at CEDIA Expo.

When Alex Tagliani does anything, he is “all in.” That goes for his IndyCar racing, as well as the construction of his new 4,500-square-foot smart home outside Montreal.

That attitude explains why Tagliani flew down to the CEDIA Expo 2015 in Dallas in October to walk the aisles, get ideas, check out equipment and help make selections for the project. Not many homeowners do something like that. “Being at CEDIA is something that is very important for this sort of project because architects tend to build something very nice for the look. The practicality is the responsibility of the builder. So looking at the product and looking at everything to see how it will fit and why is good,” Tagliani told CE Pro.

The home theater is going to be something unique. Tagliani plans to encase behind Plexiglas mannequins that will be dressed in his various racing suits from significant races, such as the Indianapolis 500.

Tagliani is working closely with his two integrators—Greg Simmons of CE Pro 100 company Eagle Sentry in Las Vegas and Joseph Kade of Homesync in Montreal—to outfit the home with the best equipment for the job. So far, he has selected various equipment from Epson, Integra, AudioQuest, Screen Innovations, Bowers & Wilkins and iRoom Inc. for the project.
