Large displays are a staple of modern living, but large displays often struggle to blend into thoughtfully designed spaces. In many homes, windows and artwork dominate the walls, leaving little room for even something like a 55-inch TV. That was the problem this set of homeowners out of Jackson, Wyoming were facing when they called upon Premiere SAV to find a more refined solution for them.
While placing the TV on a tabletop was a simple alternative, it lacked the elegance and sophistication the owners of this stunning mountainside retreat desired.

Having previously outfitted the family’s main home with a Control4 automation system and an architectural wall panel that slides open to reveal a wall-mounted TV, Premiere SAV had already proven its ability to merge technology with aesthetics to the client. Confident in the team’s expertise, the homeowners challenged the integration firm to find an equally innovative way to preserve the newly remodeled décor and breathtaking views of their guest house just across the street.
Custom-Built AV Cabinet Hides Motorized Lift and TV
The first step, the integrator recalls, was coordinating with the contractor responsible for building the custom AV cabinet for the TV.
“He needed all the specifications—the make and model of the TV, along with the Nexus 21 lift selected for the project—to ensure a precise fit, seamless finish, and smooth operation,” explains the Premiere SAV team.
With these technical parameters in hand, the cabinetmaker developed a proposed design and presented it to both the homeowners and Premiere SAV. The proposed concept from the contractor met both aesthetic and functional expectations the homeowner desired. With approval secured, construction began, with the cabinetmaker also tasked with installing the lift mechanism.

Precision Programming Ensures Smooth Operation of Lift
Taking care of its portion of the smart home installation, Premiere SAV handled programming the precise setpoints for the lift (a Nexus 21 L-65s) and the Sony 55-inch TV, ensuring they raised smoothly from within the cabinet. Using Nexus 21’s Universal Control Hub, Premiere SAV enabled a Control4 remote to activate the motor, seamlessly extending the lift to its full upright position. Once elevated, the TV could be manually swiveled, allowing guests to adjust the screen for optimal viewing from multiple vantage points. Should Premiere SAV need a mount that swivels for future projects, Nexus 21 offers that option, as well.
Premiere SAV notes that timing is everything when coordinating with other trades such as cabinetmakers and this installation is a good example of that coordination the Rocky Mountain region company emphasizes.
According to SAV, the L-65s proved to be a good choice for this mountainside guesthouse, preserving the outdoor scenery, the contemporary interior design, and guests’ AV enjoyment. Complemented by a custom-programmed handheld remote, unveiling the TV from the custom enclosure is effortless, impressive, sleek, and fun.
