Enamored with the work done on a prior property, the client of this project reached out to ETC Florida for a reprisal of their previous job following the purchase of a condo ten miles south of the original overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in Palm Beach, Florida.
Working closely with the homeowner and German-based interior designer and architect Zim, the team was tasked with creating a clean, light-filled living space that discreetly integrated lighting, shading and audio control without compromising design.
Additionally, the client sought to create a storm-ready abode with power conditioning and management capabilities that would offer ample resilience during the region’s hurricane season.
Power Monitoring Keeps Client Aware of Hurricane Outages

The system’s power management unit allows the owner to see the quality of the condo’s power throughout the day.
In addition to being more resilient against storms, the client wanted insight into all power outages that might occur at the condo’s location while they were away.
WattBox power conditioning and management was implemented to allow proactive monitoring of the condo’s power status during Florida’s storm season.
Limited space for the head-end did present a challenge, however, compounded by the risk of heat buildup.
In response, ETC Florida devised a custom cooling solution—venting heat into a large closet and pulling in cool air on an automated schedule to maintain peak performance without disturbing daily life.
ETC Florida also intentionally made the condo’s system minimalistic to start, answering the client’s core request, while remaining able to be built upon by future homeowners.
ETC Florida’s Minimalist Design Approach Makes Condo’s Wall Fixtures Vanish

Wall fixtures disappear into the environment with custom coatings.
The condo’s expansive windows also required careful attention. Alongside motorized shading throughout the unit, the team engineered a striking one-piece, dual-roller shade on a subtle serpentine track with side channels.
This solution allowed the homeowners to maintain privacy while still welcoming natural light and unobstructed views of the ocean.
All outlets, lighting and shading keypads and in-wall iPad mounts were also finished with TruFig trim kits to help maintain a cohesive, minimalist aesthetic.
“These fixtures created such a seamless landscape across the unit that even the client has forgotten where certain outlets are in their home,” explains Paul Biava, President and Managing Partner of ETC Florida.

The entire condo sports a very minimalist design aesthetic.
