No matter how elegant a keypad or touchscreen is out-of-the-box, it still amounts to wall clutter. Most custom integrators and their smart-home clients – not to mention interior designers – would rather see as little of the stuff as possible.
Since 2013, Israeli manufacturer Wall-Smart has been making flush mounts that allow home-tech gear to fade into walls and other solid surfaces. They aren’t the first company to offer extreme flush-mounting, but they do support the broadest array of third-party interfaces for products as diverse as iPads, home-automation touchscreens, electrical outlets and volume controls.
At the recent ISE 2019 show in Amsterdam, Wall-Smart showed off its latest inventions, including flush mounts for Crestron’s new Horizon keypad system, Savant’s touchscreen thermostat, URC’s TKP-9600 screen, and the 12.9-inch iPad Pro.
“We really try to just keep up with the market and constantly … bring out the latest solutions,” says Danielle Guetta, marketing manager for Wall-Smart.
Even the brand new iPad Pro 11-inch tablet had its own mount on display at ISE. Guetta explains, “It’s very new – it just came out – and we already have the flush mount for it.”
Because of the company’s deep relationships with tech partners, Wall-Smart is typically pre-briefed on upcoming products in order to have mounts ready to go when the partner products ship.
Wall-Smart mounts accommodate each product’s unique ventilation, backlighting and power schemes. For example, the company built a special PoE-to-USB converter to supply power as well as Ethernet to the new Apple tablet.
