The Amazon Echo takeover continues.
Today URC announced an Amazon Alexa skill for integration with its Total Control whole-house smart home system. The skill enables “virtually any Total Control programmed macros” to be controlled using voice control with the Echo, as well as the Echo Dot and Amazon Fire TV, according to the company.
The skill is designed to fully integrate Alexa voice services with Total Control. Users can select TV programs, activate music systems, raise and lower shades, adjust thermostats and even turn on and off their entire home via voice commands.
URC is calling the addition of the skill “a revolutionary change in the way URC Total Control users can enjoy their smart home system.”
“Today we join an elite group of smart home innovators with the introduction of intelligent voice control for Total Control, our premium, custom whole-house automation and control system,” says Doug Cole, SVP and general manager, URC.
The URC Alexa Integration Guide explains how to incorporate Amazon Alexa voice control into a Total Control installation. Alexa integration must be completed by a certified URC Total Control systems integrator. Knowledge of Accelerator Programming is required.
