Outdoor X Brings Interior Design Languages to Exterior Facades and Living Spaces

The new exterior track lighting system from WAC Group builds on the engineering behind the pre-existing WAC Track system, only now for use in low-voltage, outdoor scenarios.

In the realm of outdoor design and technology, a common turn of phrase pertains to bringing the language of the interior outdoors, and in that way, WAC Group is doing just that with the introduction of its new Outdoor X track lighting system.

Outdoor X Applies Interior Lighting Language to the Outdoors

Interior track lighting has long been valued for its flexibility and adaptability with regards to indoor lighting design while exterior lighting, by contrast, typically involves fixture replacement or relocation to accommodate design changes.

For this reason, WAC positions the product as a solution for both high-end residential, as well as for more sophisticated hospitality and commercial environments.

Takeaways for Integrators

The system’s low-voltage platform is designed to be integrated easily with other low-voltage power and control solutions from both WAC as well as other control providers, allowing for the system to work either as a standalone or integrated in with a more robust outdoor/landscape lighting system.

Track sections are field-cuttable with flexible connectors that allow it to be positioned around architectural elements and adjustable lighting heads that allow for focused beam angles between 20 and 70 degrees in layered outdoor lighting schemes.

While on display at Lightapalooza 2026, the prevailing use case was for installation in pergolas, however, the tracks can be mounted both horizontally and vertically, tailoring the product for use in façade and pathway lighting as well.

The track’s associated X-10 Luminaires deliver beams up to 630 lumens at 12W with two options for static color temperature at 2700K and 3000K, both at 90 CRI.

Familiar Engineering in an Outdoor Package

According to WAC, the Outdoor X system pulls on the same engineering behind the brand’s pre-existing WAC Track, updating it for external environments while keeping the modular, system-based approach of the original.

Unlike traditional interior systems adapted for covered patios or transitional spaces, however, Outdoor X has been engineered specifically to handle more demanding outdoor conditions, with a durable construction and IP-66-rated components designed for long-term use in varied climates.

Availability of Outdoor X Products

Outdoor X is currently available through WAC Lighting’s website and dealers associated with interested parties instructed to reach out to a WAC representative for more information on pricing and product availability.
