Lutron to Acquire UK-based Fixture Maker Orluna

Lutron's acquisition of high-quality UK lighting manufacturer Orluna expands company's international presence.
Published: June 3, 2025

Lighting and shading giant Lutron is acquiring Orluna LED Technologies, a UK-based manufacturer of high-quality architectural lighting fixtures.

The acquisition is significant, as it represents Lutron’s first acquisition outside of North America. It’s not clear if Lutron plans to bring Orluna products to the North American market, as the company says Orluna products remain available only in Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, and the UK, and are “currently” not available in North America.

In a statement to CE Pro, Ben Bard, the company’s vice president of luxury residential, said any plans to expand Orluna to North America “would be evaluated in the future.”

Orluna, meanwhile, will maintain operations at its UK headquarters while “benefiting from Lutron’s global reach and resources.”

According to a press release, Orluna was founded in 2010 and is known for its high-end downlights, uplights, and surface and track fixtures. The idea is that Orluna’s architectural fixtures complement Lutron’s advanced lighting, shading and control solutions for luxury residential and hospitality markets.

In a statement, Bed Bard, Lutron’s vice president of luxury residential, said Orluna’s fixture portfolio pairs extremely well with Lutron’s expansive solutions.

In a statement given to CE Pro, Bard said Lutron has been laser-focused on lighting as the “next major growth category” in the industry, and has been since Lutron’s acquisition of Ivalo in 2009.

“Demand for intelligent lighting is on the rise, and Lutron remains committed to giving integrators the tools and products they need to be successful,” Bard told CE Pro. “The acquisition of Orluna reinforces Lutron’s commitment to our global customers, as Orluna’s portfolio of elegant lighting solutions enables us to expand the lighting category in key global markets.”

The acquisition also expands Lutron’s global reach and market influence and reinforces the company’s presence in the UK, Europe and Middle East.

Andrew Kilborn, managing director at Orluna, commented on the acquisition, saying lighting and control solutions are continuing to merge.

“Lutron and Orluna are both family-run companies with a similar long-term outlook. We look forward to this next chapter where, together, we will create beautiful interiors through the harmony of light whilst maintaining consistent loyalty to our customers,” Kilborn said.

Javier Segoiva, Lutron’s vice president of sales and services for the UK and Europe, said the acquisition supports Lutron’s strategy to grow its presence in key regions and enhance its “position in the global luxury residential and hospitality lighting markets.”

“Our team looks forward to working with our shared customers on this next chapter,” Segoiva said in a statement.
