Smart locks serve multiple purposes in the modern home. Job number one for these products is their ability to serve on the front line of home security, but in addition they provide an added value of convenience within a home control and automation system.
Adding to its line of smart home friendly locks, Kwikset announced its new keyway-less lock as part of five new locks during the recently completed ISC West in Las Vegas. Utilizing a sleek industrial design, Kwikset's new lock can easily complement the aesthetic requirements of a home.
“The introduction of our new keyway-less touchscreen lock makes a strong statement about Kwikset's commitment to security, as well as modern design,” says Keith Brandon, divisional vice president of residential access solutions, Spectrum Brands, Hardware and Home Improvement Division. “Although we already offer the most secure and visually appealing locks on the market, we are always looking for ways to innovate in both areas. The new low-profile touchscreen delivers a sleek, modern lock with technologically advanced residential protection that will be a ‘game changer.’”
Leveraging the design of its SmartCode 916, the lock incorporates Z-Wave's new 500 Series chip, as well as a capacitive touchscreen for fast entry into a home, and auto detection technologies that quickly unlocks doors when the correct codes are input.
The lock also features an easy-to-read white HD LED screen, and a dedicated lock button that provides homeowners with a simple way to quickly lock their doors.
