DMF Lighting is expanding its Artafex architectural lighting portfolio at Lightapalooza 2026 with the introduction of the Artafex 1 one-inch downlight and a new Artafex PhaseX Gateway with Ethernet, addressing both fixture performance and system-level digital lighting control for residential projects.
Artafex 1 Targets Whole-Home Small-Aperture Lighting
The Artafex 1 is positioned as the company’s first one-inch architectural downlight designed for full residential lighting designs rather than limited accent use. According to DMF Lighting, previous one-inch fixtures have been constrained by tradeoffs in output, glare control, cost, and serviceability. The Artafex 1 is intended to overcome those limitations and support ambient, task, and accent lighting throughout the home.
According to DMF, at the center of the fixture is its 3-Stage Optic design, which the company says delivers glare mitigation while maintaining optical clarity through precision glass and silicone optics. The fixture is rated to deliver up to 1,000 lumens and includes a 35-degree adjustable beam with a gear-drive tilt mechanism designed to allow accurate aiming that remains fixed during hot aiming.
The Artafex 1 is powered by DMF’s PhaseX digital lighting technology and is available with tunable white capability. PhaseX enables fine-resolution dimming down to 0.1 percent, flicker-free performance, and precise color control, supporting circadian lighting strategies and smooth transitions across lighting scenes. The system operates over standard electrical wiring and is intended for use in new construction, remodel, and retrofit applications, according to the company.
Installation and serviceability are supported by a universal remote AC-to-DC driver capable of powering one to five fixtures from up to 100 feet away. Each fixture includes an integrated DC regulator that maintains constant current for uniform output, with both the regulator and light module designed to be serviceable from below the ceiling.
Ethernet-Enabled PhaseX Gateway Simplifies Digital Lighting Control
Alongside the new fixture, DMF Lighting also introduced the Artafex PhaseX Gateway with Ethernet, an update to its digital lighting control infrastructure. The new gateway adds direct Ethernet connectivity, eliminating the need for separate DMX control boxes. DMF says this change reduces hardware requirements, simplifies system design, and lowers overall project costs while improving reliability.
Commissioning is handled through DMF software over Wi-Fi, allowing on-site setup and system adjustments without additional control hardware. The Ethernet-enabled gateway also supports native integration with control platforms including Control4 and Crestron, enabling direct communication between lighting and control systems. DMF noted that it is continuing to work with additional control manufacturers to expand native integration options.
The company says it will continue to offer the original Artafex PhaseX Gateway alongside the new Ethernet-enabled version to support projects using control systems that do not yet provide native integration. The Artafex PhaseX Gateway with Ethernet is expected to be available early next quarter.
