Published: October 29, 2025

CEDIA has announced the details for its Smart Home Technology Conference, scheduled to run from February 3–5, 2026, at Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) at FIRA Barcelona. The program is designed to provide integrators with practical skills and strategies for the custom installation sector.

According to the professional smart home industry association, the conference will consist of 36 sessions spread across three days. The curriculum is organized into six distinct tracks, covering a range of topics relevant to residential technology professionals. The goal is to equip attendees with actionable information to address current business and technical challenges.

“Our goal is to help integrators and business owners navigate uncertainty and build a roadmap for ongoing growth,” said Paul Dolenc, VP of Education & Training at CEDIA. “Every session is crafted to address real-world challenges and deliver practical takeaways, ensuring that attendees leave equipped for the future business and technical challenges they face.”

Six Tracks to Address Industry Trends

The conference’s educational content is divided into six specialized tracks, each focusing on a key area of the smart home industry.

CEDIA Standards

This track will focus on the new RP1 Performance Facts initiative, aimed at establishing a more engineering-focused approach to residential technology design. Peter Aylett, CEDIA’s Education Committee Chair, will lead four new 90-minute courses teaching attendees how to interpret and apply key loudspeaker and amplifier specifications.

AI & Emerging Technologies

Led by industry veteran Rich Green, this track will explore new developments from Silicon Valley. It includes Green’s “Future Technologies” session, along with explorations of humanoid robotics and extended reality (XR). Two “AI Live” workshops will offer practical demonstrations of artificial intelligence tools for improving business efficiency. The track also covers smart technology solutions for the independent living market.

Lighting and Wellness

Instructor Andy Bull will lead sessions on the technical and creative aspects of lighting design. Courses like “Principles of Good Lighting Design” and “Lighting for Life: Why Human-Centric Design Matters in Smart Homes” will cover human-centric lighting and wellness technologies.

Networking, Cybersecurity, and Privacy

As systems grow in complexity, this track, headed by CEDIA subject matter expert Jeff Sonnleitner, will cover secure network design and maintenance. Courses range from advanced networking principles to practical cybersecurity strategies for residential projects. It will also introduce a new CEDIA initiative to help integrators communicate key information to their clients.

Home Cinema and Immersive Audio

This track is dedicated to high-performance entertainment spaces. Session topics include cinema room design, room modes elimination, low-frequency extension, and next-generation acoustic simulation. The courses will guide attendees through design principles and techniques for delivering advanced cinema and audio experiences.

Business

The business track features sessions on topics such as design thinking, building a positive company culture, improving project process efficiencies, and growing recurring monthly revenue (RMR). It will also cover expanding a lighting design business, managing takeover jobs, and collaborating effectively with designers and architects. The sessions will include discussions with integrators and business experts sharing their real-world experiences.
