AVPro Edge has expanded its MXnet Evolution II AV‑over‑IP ecosystem with a pair of USB‑over‑IP devices that aim to simplify and scale peripheral connectivity across professional systems.
The solution comes in two parts: a HEX transmitter and a DEX receiver, designed to plug into any MXnet Evolution II deployment.
Features of the HEX and DEX USB 2.0
According to AVPro, integrators can deploy multiple HEX and DEX units anywhere on the network, giving them the flexibility to support a wide array of USB devices without being limited by traditional point‑to‑point extension.
Both units are PoE‑compatible, removing the need for external power supplies, which simplifies installation and improves long-term reliability.
HEX Transmitter
On the transmitting side, HEX provides a USB-C host port to interface with modern laptops, PCs, and other upstream devices. It also includes enhanced support for isochronous data — critical for devices that require consistent timing, like webcams or audio gear.
Status is displayed on an OLED screen, and there’s an SFP slot for fiber connectivity to support long‑distance or high-interference runs. The design is also fanless, which keeps the device quiet in noise‑sensitive environments.
DEX Receiver
The DEX receiver, meanwhile, offers two USB-A ports and two USB-C ports, enabling connection of a wide variety of peripherals, from keyboards and mice to PTZ cameras, storage devices, and microphones.
Like the HEX, it supports isochronous devices, shows status on an OLED readout, includes a fiber SFP port, and runs passively to ensure silence in deployment.
AVPro Edge positions both solutions as being well suited for verticals that demand flexibility and high-capacity USB distribution: hospitality, enterprise, medical, education, residential control centers, data centers, and even mission-critical operations.
According to the company’s CTO, these devices integrate with MXnet’s CBOX/Mentor control platform, making them manageable alongside AV, control and other endpoints.
