After a marathon of announcements for its evo series earlier this year, LG has released what it’s calling an ideal companion to its displays in its latest soundbar release. Joining the company’s lineup of premium soundbars, the LG S95AR is designed to be integrated with LG OLEDs and is meant to operate as an all-in-one home theater sound system.

Specifically, LG states that the S95AR is meant to complement the OLED B, OLED evo C and G series through the soundbar’s WOW Orchestra function.

Once connected, the system will coordinate audio between both the TV and the soundbar for a more immersive listening experience, with the WOW Interface, giving TV viewers full control over the audio settings, including various sound modes, though CE pros will likely feel more comfortable dialing in the right sound themselves.

The soundbar also comes equipped with LG’s AI Room Calibration which, like other room calibration features, uses a built-in microphone on the soundbar to dial in the room dimensions and detect other speaker placements.

The onboard AI then processes the information and optimizes audio settings accordingly to produce what LG calls a “richer, deeper and clearer surround sound experience.”

Speaking of surround sound, the soundbar comes equipped out the gate with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X support and sports a 9.1.5 channel configuration boosted by a redesigned 8-inch subwoofer and five up-firing speakers, including True Wireless up-firing rear speakers.

While being labeled as a “home theater soundbar” LG is quick to point out that it fits well into gaming setups as well, which itself leans into the growing trend of home theaters doubling as gaming pads as well.

LG itself has been growing out the capabilities of its TVs through more gaming-focused features such as higher refresh rates and faster response times. The company has also hitched itself onto cloud gaming’s growing viability with the inclusion of Xbox Cloud Gaming on its upcoming OLED and QNED TV lineups.

Surprisingly, despite the growing economic discontent at the consumer level, the OLED segment has been surprisingly resilient, with sales of large-format displays, particularly those from LG leading the charge, though reports have found that Samsung has recently overtaken LG as the most sold TV in the U.S.

According to LG, the S95AR Soundbar retails for $1,699 MSRP and is available now through its website as well as LG-authorized retailers.
