At the heart of the JVC home theater projector product line is the company’s proprietary D-ILA technologies. How does the use of D-ILA help JVC’s projectors produce images that rival reality?
For over 25 years, D-ILA devices have been at the heart of our projectors, and they play an important role in projecting beautiful images. JVC’s engineering team is continually working to improve image quality. The third generation of 0.69-inch native 4K D-ILA devices offers improved alignment control of liquid crystals and enhances the flatness of image pixels to offer 1.5-times (DLA-NZ800 1.25-times) the native contrast ratio compared to the Gen2 device. Additionally, improvements in the device manufacturing process have resulted in better screen uniformity and enhanced image quality. JVC’s patented D-ILA chips offer superior native contrast (up to 150,000:1) for images that appear three-dimensional and lifelike on the screen.
A great projector demands a quality screen to create a truly immersive experience. What advantages does Stewart Filmscreen offer by manufacturing its screen materials and systems in Los Angeles, California?
At Stewart Filmscreen they are more than just screens — they’re a group of dreamers, designers, and forward-thinkers who want to craft unbelievable viewing experiences. With over 70 years of experience in the projection screen industry, you’re guaranteed to get a product that’s designed with integrity and built in the United States. By manufacturing in Los Angeles, Stewart Filmscreen maintains full control over quality, consistency, and engineering precision. The same precision-engineered materials and systems developed for Hollywood studios and professional simulators are applied to residential products, bringing reference-level performance directly into the home.
Does JVC support UHD (4K) resolutions and today’s high dynamic range (HDR) formats?
JVC’s native 4K projectors offer superior resolution, high native contrast, and Frame Adapt HDR color mode for content that demands vibrant visuals. Built-in second-generation Frame Adapt HDR Tone Mapping through HDR10+ helps JVC projectors achieve a wider dynamic range with frame-by-frame HDR images that rival reality, adjusting the dark and bright levels in real-time. JVC now offers this feature in all D-ILA projector models. Together with JVC’s Deep Black Tone Control, which enhances black levels with more contrast than ever before, customers can see realistic darkness with more detail.
Remember… JVC not only provides Native 4K but also 8K60p Input for Ultra-high Res 8K content too!
JVC projectors are not just for movies. For sports enthusiasts, there is no better way to experience touchdowns on Sunday than on the big screen where every play is crystal clear, colors are more vibrant, and the field itself feels alive!
JVC offers home theater projectors that provide vibrant and realistic visuals. All JVC D-ILA projectors offer Filmmaker Mode. Can you explain what this mode does and how it helps customers maximize their video system installations?
When watching movies, we highly suggest using JVC’s FILMAKER MODE. At your fingertips, one can push a button to adjust the projector’s lens to match your favorite ultra-wide anamorphic content and watch the movie the way it was meant to be viewed. This intriguing feature allows for the faithful recreation of the creator’s original intentions so you can view the movie the way the director intended. This mode is set to the parameters designated by the UHD Alliance to preserve the director’s intent of how they intended the film to be viewed by keeping the artistic process intact.
Another important piece to this puzzle is the use of a reference screen. JVC often partners with Stewart Filmscreen for their product demonstrations. When major movie production companies need a screen for their post-production editing as well as for their screening rooms, they go to Stewart – and they have for a long time. SnoMatte 100, StudioTek 100, StudioTek 130 G4, and Harmony G3 are the reference screens. These unrivaled screens deliver the director’s vision — to see their films in true, life-rendering colors and with center-to-edge uniformity.
One screen does not fit all projection needs. Can you tell us about Stewart Filmscreen’s newest masking system, StreamPro, that will be at JVC’s CEDIA 2025 booth? What makes this new design so appealing?
Projection conditions vary. That is why we are application-driven. Room seating, throw distances, ambient lighting, front and rear projection requirements, 3D workflow, and other factors all impact the image on the screen. Stewart makes over 25 different screen materials to meet the demands of each projection environment. As always, each screen is meticulously custom-made for your specific application.
StreamPro was engineered to deliver a versatile and high-performance masking solution for native 16:9 HD and 2.00:1 content, with the ability to mask seamlessly to ultra-wide formats up to 2.76:1. Designed with sleek 4.5” borders and support for screen sizes up to 200” diagonal, it offers a clean aesthetic for today’s popular streaming formats.
