Within the town of Tiverton Rhode Island lies a home unique in its blending of Buddhist and Feng-Shui philosophies and smart home technological capabilities via a “quiet” home automation system developed and installed by TSP Smart Spaces.
Buddhist Sentiments Guide System Design Philosophy

Leaning into its coastal aesthetics, the home sports a marine-inspired design further influenced by Feng Shui and Buddhist teachings.
“Given the homeowner’s Buddhist principles and feng shui concepts, ensuring that all technology operated quietly and unobtrusively was crucial,” explains Nathan Smith, Sales Operations Manager for TSP Smart Spaces
“This was especially important in areas like the private prayer space designed for meditation.”
For this reason, a core focus on the design of the automation and control systems was that of “quiet technology”: being able to provide function and stimulation to homeowners when needed without detracting from the serene spaces and vistas.
Coastal Vistas Offer Serene Yet Stimulating Visuals

With an abundance of windows to showcase the breathtaking views, TSP incorporated appropriate window treatments that would help mitigate the harsh glare of the sun while preserving exterior sightlines.
Smith states TSP’s involvement early in the design process proved to be a considerable boon, as they were able to more easily tuck the cassettes for the window treatments into the architecture of the home.
This careful approach to preserving the exterior visuals of the home extends into the private home cinema hidden in the primary suite, as a ceiling-mounted short-throw projector and retractable screen help to preserve the coastal scenery.
Lighting Accents Feng-Shui-Inspired Design

Another central aspect of the home’s aesthetic experience lies the lighting control system, which encompasses all lighting fixtures across the property. This includes the more functional recessed downlights to the home’s elegant Italian crystal fixtures.
A collection of custom lighting scenes developed for the property further accent these systems and suit a range of use cases for the various spaces throughout. Whether it’s in the home’s kitchen, primary suite or secluded meditation room, the system is designed to provide the ideal quality and quantity of light to suit the mood and function as needed.
It’s not quiet all the time, however. In addition to the private cinema tucked away into the home’s primary suite, the home also includes a karaoke setup with premium speakers placed throughout the house.
